Decided it's time to try for DC2 soon in a couple of months, anyone in the same boat?

I'm off to the shops today to pick up some folic acid and may buy a pineapple so I can eat the core... it seemed to help last time with conception 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

🙋‍♀️

Already been casually trying (not trying to put too much pressure on but never happens 😂)
Had multiple early losses so been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.
How old is your first?

abbs1 · 07/06/2021 13:06

Yes we are planning in the next few months but if it happens sooner thats ok too. Im so bad at remembering to take folic acid though.
My previous pregnancy and birth was horrendous with hyperemesis and then pre eclampsia. We also lost our first baby through miscarriage so im hoping for an easier ride this time 🤞

EnjoyingTheSunshine · 07/06/2021 13:09

@HereWeGoAgain24

Hey, we're also trying to conceive our 2nd at the moment.

I have an almost 10 month old baby boy, who we conceived in the first cycle of trying.

Due to my age ( 34) we started ttc our 2nd at the beginning of this year.

We got lucky after two cycles, but unfortunately I had a very early miscarriage in February.

Since then I haven't had success,had three unsuccessful cycles after miscarriage and I'm just in my fourth cycle, waiting to ovulate.

I'm trying everything this month, grapefruit juice, evening primrose oil, you name it 😂 Also started to take Ubiquinol after my miscarriage and lots of vitamin supplements.

Out of interest, how did pineapple core help you last time? Never heard of it.

Wishing you lots of baby dust x

HereWeGoAgain24 · 07/06/2021 16:28

@firsttimemummy321

I’m sorry to hear about your losses, I hope you get your rainbow soon! DC1 is 13 months old

@abbs1

I know what you mean, I never remember to take my multivitamins so let’s see how I go with this 😂 I used the seven seas ‘trying for a baby’ last time and it had days on like the pill does so that was easier.

I’m with you on the horrendous birth, I ended up with an emergency C-section last time, did you have Caesarean given the pre-eclampsia?
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, hopefully you will have an easier ride this time 🤞🏼

@EnjoyingTheSunshine
I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I was very lucky like you and conceived DS in our first cycle too. I hope it happens this cycle for you 🤞🏼

The pineapple core thing - I don’t even know where I read/heard about it but apparently it helps with fertility... could’ve been coincidental conceiving first time 🤷🏼‍♀️ I did a few other things too life no alcohol, caffeine etc. But I think I wanna take a more relaxed approach this time!

@herewegoagain24
Oh thats good to know. I will see if I can get some!

Oh gosh I hope you have a much better birth next time. No they induced me and I had a very intense quick 7 hour labour with back to back contractions no breaks from 15mins after inductionwas given. Nearly lost him at one point so they had to do an episiotomy and quick pull him out! All 3 days before lockdown so very stressful. I only found out after i should have had a c section.

Oh my gosh! That does sound traumatic!
I was similar with back to back contractions and induction (had to turn drip off numerous times) and we almost lost him too! 1 failed epidural whilst projectile vomiting (🤦🏼‍♀️) and 1 successful one, by time that kicked in it was decided a c-section was safest 😰
And it was 4 weeks into lockdown so was by myself for the start of the induction.

Let's hope our experience next time goes better! 😂

Oh my gosh! Sounds so similar to my birth. I had a failed epidural after being basically forced into having one and they never turned my drip off! Im just thankful the midwife told my husband to pull the emergency buzzer and thr consultant ran in and got baby out quick.
Thank goodness you and baby were all ok. And in lockdown i cant even imagine. I was lucky enough to still have my husband with me.

Yes i really hope we get our BFPs soon and much better births.

So pleased you managed to get baby out and everything was ok Thanks!

Another option I used to do with the pills to remember nearing the end of my pregnancy was get a little pill pot with the days on... felt like an OAP but it was easy to follow 😂

Oh thats a good idea! 😂

PajamaLife · 08/06/2021 15:54

I'm hoping to conceive baby #2 too! I have a DS who will be three in July. We were really lucky that he was conceived in the first month of trying. I found his birth quite traumatic, so I'm apprehensive of doing it all again, but also so excited to add another darling to our family!

Last month was our first month TTC #2. Frustratingly, my period is now a week late and no positive pregnancy test! Not even a hint of a line on any of them! So I'm assuming that even though my cycle is usually a regular 30-31 day cycle, I might have ovulated late or not at all last month. Trying not to worry about it too much as there are a few possible reasons - at the start of May I had the Pfizer vaccine and I've heard a few women say that has thrown their cycle off, I have been under a lot of stress at work, and also I've been taking Pregnacare vitamins - there is a statement on the box that says some women have reported changes to their menstrual cycles after taking them.
I'm just really hoping that my period will come along soon so that we can try again. Fingers crossed!
Good luck, ladies!

HereWeGoAgain24 · 08/06/2021 16:16

@PajamaLife oh no that sounds so frustrating!! I have heard a lot of those things can affect your cycles too, especially the vaccine! I didn't experience any chance to mine personally but a lot of women i know have so you're probably in the majority.

Hopefully it returns (not often we say that is it 😂) and then you get another chance of conceiving!

abbs1 · 08/06/2021 18:56

@pajamalife i really hope you get your bfp soon. I had the astrazenica jab before all the blood clotting stuff was made known as im a carer and my cycles are now all over the place. My last one was 5 days late and 4 days of cramping before any af.
Ive got some cheap ovulation sticks so i can start seeing whats going on and i seem to be ovulating a lot earlier than i thought. Could you maybe get some?

But im trying my best not to stress and just see what happens.

PajamaLife · 09/06/2021 07:36

I know - this is the first time ever I've been praying AF will visit! I've tested every other day since the first day of my missed period, so I'm confident I'm not pregnant, just waiting to try again!

PajamaLife · 09/06/2021 07:39

Yes I have heard lots of stories about women who have had changes to their cycles after the vaccine, which is reassuring, I think?! Hopefully just a short term effect. I've done exactly the same for my next cycle and ordered some ovulation tests, so that if my cycle is a bit unpredictable for a few months, at least I have a better chance of catching ovulation when it does happen!

HereWeGoAgain24 · 09/06/2021 07:49

@PajamaLife @abbs1

I swear by those ovulation tests! I used easy@home ones when I conceived DS and been using wondfos (both cheapies off Amazon) for the last few months to track my cycles and get to know when I'm ovulating. I use the Pre-mom app to track them, super helpful!

The Glow app for general cycle tracking is good too, what do you both use?

Hey ladies can I join?
I'm ttc number 2 my daughter is 5. I'm with a different partner so with my daughter wasn't planned. We have been ttc for 9 months now and I just had a miscarriage 2 days ago. Apparently my progesterone was low but didn't know wether the miscarriage caused that or the progesterone caused the miscarried ! We just want to get back trying as we feel more than ever it will happen we were worried about my partners sperm but the fact we actually got a bfp makes it easier!
I've been taken pregnacare and stopped now taking 800mg folic acid and high strength vitamin D , apparently b6 can help progesterone too so thinking of throwing that in!

Chanel05 · 09/06/2021 07:57

Hello! My dd is 1 in September and I think we will be ttc#2 around then. She took 16 months with a mmc in between to conceive, so I really don't want to put any pressure on myself this time when I know that every positive test doesn't equal a baby and it can take a long time. Both times I conceived it took me 8 months so I'm prepared for that again.

abbs1 · 09/06/2021 10:05

@herewegoagain24 yes those ovulation sticks are really good!

@laurenxx94 oh im sorry to hear about your miscarriage. We suffered one before our little boy who is now nearly 15 months. I hope you get some good news soon. I conceived the cycle after my miscarriage.

abbs1 · 09/06/2021 10:07

@chanel05 we are gonna properly start trying in sept but im tracking my cycles now to see whats going on to hopefully help this time.
Definitely dont put pressure on yourself. I hope you get your bfp soon.

Thanks for sharing your story, that gives me some positivity! I think everything just goes through your head thinking what's the problem ? Did anything ever end up an issue for your or did it take you just a bit longer? Are you taking any vitamins etc this time round xx

Hi Chanel! Are you trying anything different this time round? We're on month 9 after a chemical just the other day. Absolutely devastating getting that bfp for to then in a matter of days no longer be pregnant. I had a total gut feeling something was wrong and just knew ! Xxx
Chanel05 · 09/06/2021 10:40

@abbs1 good idea! I'm not on any contraception and for the first time in my life I'm having 28 day cycles, so assuming I'm ovulating as normal but probably won't track just yet.

@Laurenxx94 I did eeeeeverything before. Acupuncture, drinking grapefruit juice, pineapple core. You name it, I did it! I also temped but I don't want to do that this time. My daughter wakes up a lot so I don't think it'd be reliable. Going to just do opks (cheapies) and COQ10, DHA and of course folic acid and Vitamin D. That still sounds a lot but believe me, it's nothing compared to what I was like! Really sorry for your loss. A positive test still gives you so much hope and you must be feeling really disheartened. Hope you get your sticky bfp soon. What are you doing to track / support?

abbs1 · 09/06/2021 11:14

They didnt find anything wrong but I did suffer with severe hyperemesis gravidarum which affects only 2% of women in the pregnancy with my little boy. It was horrendous but i got through it. I would definitely ask for extra scans and if you are at all worried go to the early pregnancy unit and see if they can do you an early scan for reassurance or if you have any cramping definitely go in and get checked for your own piece of mind.

What are the coq10 and DHA I've seen it a lot come up but not sure the benefits ? My partner is on coq10 and 3 others lol.

I tried temping last month and didn't see any difference and thought I hadn't ovulated but obviously I did 🤦🏼‍♀️ so no more temping and just use my clearblue digi opk which I do find good but expensive. I tried the cheap ones but them and the clearblue didn't match so didn't know what to do 😭 I'm currently taking folic acid and vitamin D too xx
