Has anyone got pregnant on their period?

My cycle usually lasts for 5 days but this time it lasted 8 days. On day 8 (so still during my period) I had sex and we didn't use a condom, he just pulled out the last second.
Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I am pretty sure the chances are ridiculously low right?

The chances must be tiny. I can't really see how it could happen physically. If there's no womb lining to implant into, you couldn't implant a pregnancy.

How long is your cycle / do you know what day you normally ovulate?

I think it is unlikely, unless you have short cycles.

conkersarebonkers · 26/05/2021 21:32

Unlikely but not impossible. Sperm can survive for several days so it would depend how long your cycles are and when you would usually ovulate.

Pretty unlikely though!

I have. I did have short cycles and long periods though. I would have dtd about day 7 or 8 and then ovulated on day 10. I used to have a 23 day cycle though.

Same thing also happened to my sister on one of her DC.

I have a short cycle (26 days). I fell pregnant from sex on cd 5, whilst still lightly bleeding.
Sperm can last 5 days and sometimes more, so easily be present during ovulation, in your case around day 13/14.

The ripening egg releases oestrogen, which lines the uterus so it’s not true that the egg can’t implant as it’s still a few days away from doing so.

Saying all this, if he pulled out the chances are much less but it’s still likely.

During your period and he pulled out? There is absolutely no chance.

Ineedmoresleep1991 · 26/05/2021 21:39

My cycle ranges from about 18 days to 26 days and isn't very regular.
I guess combining the fact that I was still bleeding and he pulled out (I think just in time) the chances are only really really tiny.

Sorry, that should be there is usually 18 to 26 days between each period.... so.guesding the cycle is around 23 to 31 days (if my period usually lasts 5 days)

When I got pregnant with dd (9), her dad and I had sex the day after I finished my period. It was the last time we ever slept together (and hadn't slept together for about 3/4 weeks before this) so was definitely that time that did it. So it's possible, though I'd think very unlikely!

CuriousandReady · 26/05/2021 22:05

If you had sex on day 8, add 5 days for sperm to survive, that’s 13 days so it is possible

Pandasarecool · 26/05/2021 22:06

Not me personally but my friend did.

55378OO8 · 26/05/2021 23:27

Do you want to be pregnant? If not then I wouldn't risk doing this again. Ovulation usually happens 12 - 14 days before your period, so on a 23 day cycle that would be around day 10. And sperm can live for up to 5 days.

firsttimemummy321 · 27/05/2021 06:33

With those cycle lengths you should ovulate between cd 9 and cd17. Sperm can live for around 5 days in you so depending on this cycle you may ovulate while some may still be alive so there is a chance yes

romdowa · 27/05/2021 06:44

I got pregnant the day after my period stoped. The chances for you are slim but there is always a chance of pregnancy with unprotected sex

Hopefulhedgehog · 27/05/2021 07:15

Given the length of your cycles then yes definitely possible. I have 27/28 day cycles and ovulate in CD 11 or 12 so I definitely count CD8 as within my fertile window.

Ineedmoresleep1991 · 27/05/2021 07:57

We are not trying for a baby, I didn't realise sperm live for so long!!

Hi where you pregnant ? X

Outliers · 02/08/2024 14:31

It's basically impossible. I feel like it would be condescending to explain why this is the case.
