Hi all!
Sorry I'm new and don't know the acronyms.
I'm in my mid-20s, and my husband and I have been ttc for about 4 months.
This time around, I am 3 days late for my period, but every time I take a test it's negative.
I have felt some cramps, but the kind I get when my period is starting, and this morning I felt really dizzy for several hours. No nausea or vomiting though.
I'm not normally late for my periods...
Is it possible I am pregnant but not enough hcg has built up to show up in a test?

Hi @Serenissima123
Unfortunately early pregnancy symptoms and AF symptoms are basically the same. And symptom spotting can cause distress which can lead to even more symptoms (been there, done that :)) Especially nausea and cramps.
That being said, do you actually know when your ovulation date was? Sometimes ovulation just randomly happens a few days later, so the whole cycle will be longer than usual.
And last but not least of course there is also the possibility that you're pregnant but nothing shows up on a test yet. As implantation can happen as late as 12dpo or even later, and it takes sometimes even longer than 48h to get hcg hormones, you will test negative 14dpo.
My friend who just welcomed her baby boy tested negative until 3 days after her AF was due.
When did you test, and what kind of test did you use?

Hi @Bundberg84 :)
According to the app I use (which monitors my temperature and CM, I ovulated on 3rd May (day 14), and so now I'm on day 30, which is 16 dpo... which is making me think probably I'm not pregnant.
I used several different tests - some cheap ones, and two clear blues.

The luteal phase is normally the same each month, regardless ot the first phase. Is it usually 16 days? Can you see that in the app?

Serenissima123 · 19/05/2021 13:34

According to my stats in the app, my luteal phase is 13 days on average

So you're def. overdue then. Did you test with CB digital? Because they aren't that sensitive.
I mean, there are two possibilities: a) you're just late, which can happen of course, then AF should arrive very soon. After all we're no machines. or b) you are indeed pregnant, but the implantation was very late and hcg levels aren't high enough (yet).

Serenissima123 · 19/05/2021 15:13

I can't remember the exact name of the cb test but it wasn't digital... just a simple blue line one.
Hoping the latter case is true!

Fingers crossed for you! XX

Still no AF! Took another test which was negative, although an hour later a very faint line appeared. I heard it's best to disregard any delayed results, though.
Will just keep testing I s'pose.

Good luck!
Have you tried the pink FRER tests?

Serenissima123 · 20/05/2021 14:20

Thanks, @Orangesand :)
I just ordered some of those, actually. I hear they're the best :-)
