What kind of tests are you taking? Are you also using first wee on a morning?

TakeYourFinalPosition · 14/05/2021 14:21

OPKs can show high around your period, as it releases similar hormones. Do you know if you usually get positive strips around then?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 14/05/2021 14:21

At five days late it shouldn’t matter about first wee for an HGC test I wouldn’t have thought.

VixFromThe6ix · 14/05/2021 14:27

Definitely shouldnt matter if it's your first wee at this point. You should show positive no matter what part of the day as you are far enough along if you are pregnant.
Did you get your covid shot recently? It seems that it delayed some women's periods. I saw a couple posts here.

Astronaut8 · 14/05/2021 14:28

First wee can make a massive difference when it comes to tests.

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:31

No it's never a first wee with lh tests as I got told you shouldn't so iv always took them around dinner

Not at five days late. I'd expect a test to show up positive even if faintly at five days late.

Are you absolutely sure of when you ovulated OP?

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:34

My thought is have I ovulated really late

While ovulation tests can sometimes show positive when pregnant, it's not a reliable way to tell at all as there's a few things that can cause them.

I would stick to using actual pregnancy tests. At 5 days late for your period it doesn't matter if you use FMU or not, most pregnancy test boxes say this on them.

What are your cycles usually like, are they regular/irregular? Do you know when you ovulated this cycle?

Also a few things can delay your period other than pregnancy, have you had your covid vaccine? Been stressed/worried at all?

Fingers crossed for you OP! 🤞

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:35

Never ovulated as high as I'm getting now

OP posts:
Lou98 · 14/05/2021 14:36

It is also possible that that is you ovulating now and you have perhaps just missed a cycle or ovulated late - this is especially common if your periods are usually irregular. When I was TTC sometimes I would ovulate on CD15/16 and other times it wouldn't be until CD22/23 and my period wouldn't come until say CD40 sometimes

SemiFeralDalek · 14/05/2021 14:36

If you're testing for ovulation yes, but it wouldn't make a difference if you were using them as a makeshift pregnancy test.

It could just be that your cycle is out a few days. Which pregnancy tests have you been using?

Lou98 · 14/05/2021 14:36

@Kazr88

Never ovulated as high as I'm getting now

Sorry cross posted - as above, it is definitely possible you're ovulating late then and your cycle will be a bit longer this month

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:38

I would show you oic but not a clue how too lol. I had a miscarriage in January which I also had to have surgery for as I hemridged couple weeks after ..since then iv had a couple of normal cycles.. where my lh just drops to were you can't see at the moment it's get higher if ote

OP posts:
Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:40

I have taken hcg it's coming up negative but my lh is high

SmidgenofaPigeon · 14/05/2021 14:41

Then there’s your answer, if you’re getting a strong positive for an ovulation hormone rather than a pregnancy one.

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:41

Should it be high if I'm supposed to be on my period..I'm not sayin I'm pregnant I'm just so confused to be honest

OP posts:
SmidgenofaPigeon · 14/05/2021 14:42

I think your cycle just hasn’t settled to what you thought it had.

bubblebath62636 · 14/05/2021 14:43

Op take a pregnancy test then you'll know for sure.

TwittleBee · 14/05/2021 14:45

It sounds like you're ovulating late this cycle. It isn't uncommon for cycles to be a bit of whack following a miscarriage (I am very sorry for your loss btw Flowers )

I'm currently experiencing a very late ovulation post MC. But I know even prior MCs, I would have the occasional late ovulation, often stress would knock it later on into my cycle.

SemiFeralDalek · 14/05/2021 14:47

It can take a while for your cycle to settle down into a regular routine after a loss, especially if you had to have surgery and then significant blood loss.

I'd suggest you're ovulating late and you should get dtd. Fingers crossed 🤞

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:52

Yes I had to have a blood transfusion too. Do you think that's what it is then..my body just don't know what it's doin..bless it lol. How long do you think we get a lh surge for ..giving up high ratings x

OP posts:
TakeYourFinalPosition · 14/05/2021 14:56

@Kazr88 I always get strong positives on ovulation strips around my period. It’s quite normal apparently, periods release LH hormone too as the womb falls away. Or that’s what my doctor said!

Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:57

How long is a regular lh surge

OP posts:
Kazr88 · 14/05/2021 14:58

How long do yours normally last x
