Hi all, first time poster here!

I finally found someone I want to settle with and we would love to start a family if we can. I am 40 at the end of the year and 20 stone (I was nearly 24 stone but trying to lose the weight and get fitter). I wanted to wait and lose more weight before TTC but I am scared if I wait till I am a healthier BMI then I will lose my chances completely. I do have some medical issues which could cause me a few issues once pregnant (if I get that lucky, changes in meds etc but nothing life threatening). Over the past year my periods have got a bit closer together and a bit lighter/shorter. I am terrified of early menopause and that I wont get the chance to have what I have always dreamed of.

I just wondered if someone has been or is in a similar position to me at all and can give me some hope? I have spoken to docs and had a few tests and nothing bad has come up, i am apparently still ovulating etc. I am getting anxious and just need to hear some positive stories.

Thank you!

Hi love!! Welcome!

I am almost 38 and ttc #1. Also found my love late in life.

I think you should keep trying! My doctor told me, you're doing yourself a disservice if you're not constantly trying. So I am giving you the same advice.

We are not young birds anymore and every passing month is an opportunity lost. If you're able to and can, then why not??

In the meantime, keep working on yourself.

My partner and I had two miscarriages, so we went to the fertility clinic and did the tests required. I'm ovulating and have some eggs to spare lol so we track ovulation each cycle and DTD as needed.

There is a thread 35+ ttc, you can join in too as most of us are in similar shoes there.

Wishing you all the best :)
