TTC after induced labor and d&c (miscarriage)

Hi all, I’m new here and need some advice please!

I had a miscarriage at 16 weeks (first pregnancy). I had to be induced followed by a d&c procedure. This was March 31st. I just got my period yesterday and it’s been brutal. It’s painful and a lot of bleeding.

I wanted to ask a few questions- did anyone TTC after their first period or did you hold off and wait for a few periods to pass by? Did you have a successful pregnancy after this procedure? Did it take you a while to get pregnant or was it fairly quickly? How long did your period last?

I appreciate any advice or stories you can share with me. I know we are all different and our bodies work differently, I’m just trying to get various perspectives and I could use some positivity right now 💕

@NeeshP261 I'm very sorry for your loss.

I had my erpc two years ago today at 12 weeks. I did ttc the first month but on reflection, I shouldn't have. I caused myself an unbelievable amount of stress trying to track ovulation and my cycles were all over the place for another 8 months. Until I conceived again.

That baby is now my almost 8 month old dd, who's currently laying on the front room floor trying to crawl!

Miracles do happen after a loss. Believe me when I say I was hugely depressed after my mmc, I actually had therapy. Please be kind to yourself, and your body. I had cycles from 34-39 days for 8 months and trying to track ovulation was so stressful. When I conceived I'd really given up and didn't bother.

@Chanel05
Thank you for sharing your experience! I can definitely relate I have my ups and downs but when I am down I am very depressed. I’m supposed to start therapy in a couple of weeks so I hope that will help me. I can’t even go back to work yet- it’s been a month and I’m a teacher but I’m just so anxious and afraid.

The thought of me ttc again is scary because I don’t want to go through this again and at the same time I don’t want to feel like I’m replacing my daughter. But your story does give me a slither of hope 🌈

@NeeshP261 really sorry to hear of your loss. I don't think there's any clear 'rule' as such. I had a MC at 6 weeks last August, conceived straight away afterwards which ended in MMC at 11 weeks and had the D&C procedure. That was in December and I'm now under investigations with my GP as yet to conceive again as hit the TTC year mark. I do already have a daughter.

I met a couple of ladies who went through it the same time as me on here who have since conceived again, all very different stages when they had their D&C, all got negative PTs at different times, periods etc so just try not to compare your journey to others is the only advice I'd give. My period was particularly heavy and lengthy after my procedure so I think that's normal.

Like PP said be kind to yourself, you've been through something absolutely devastating

Sorry hit send too soon!

*and make sure you take the time you need. I'm very much up and down with it all TTC is stressful and that's exacerbated by the losses but I'm hopeful it'll happen for us one day 🌈 😊

@bez91
Thank you for sharing your experience! You’re right, ttc is stressful and my fear of moving on or really moving forward it’s just hoping that everything goes well with this pregnancy IF I get pregnant. I feel like I’ll always feel some sort of guilt. Praying for you and I to hopefully both have a beautiful and healthy baby soon 🌈🙏🏽
