2nd Covid vaccine during 2WW?

Decided on a whim to check when I’m ovulating this month after getting a kit on offer in boots.

Clear blue showed peak static smiley yesterday (Thurs 29/4) at 5pm. We DTD that night.

DD1 was IVF. We have a frozen embryo but financially can’t commit at the moment to another go. Really want another so thought why not try naturally.

I have lots of gynae issues so know it’s unlikely but I’ve got cramps today so pretty sure I’m ovulating. However...

My 2nd Covid jab is booked for Monday (3/5) wasn’t really considering this at the time. Would it be silly to move it in case I do conceive? Should I have it anyway? Worried I’ll get a high temp and it will affect possible implantation? Is this a thing?

I know is unlikely I will get preg as we only DTD once but I’m well aware it can and may still happen of course it only takes the one go and all that... it just never happened that way before hence the IVF.

Sorry for the rambles, appreciate any advice!

Hi

I was in your exact position about 2 weeks ago, my second dose was booked for the time I knew would be implantation( not that I was expecting it to be this month)
I called to re arrange but couldn’t get another appointment so I went along and spoke with the dr. They put my mind at ease and I went ahead... I got my bfp last week so I don’t think it has any negative impact. I didn’t get a temp which was a concern but hope this gives you some reassurance x

Thanks Rubi87 that’s reassured me but I still can’t decide what to do. Probably overthinking it. TTC makes us all do that doesn’t it!

I will be (I think) 2dpo when I have my jab.

Congratulations on your BFP!

Do it. At that stage you won't share a blood supply with any baby so no chance of it passing to them.

Any raised temperature won't be of significant value. Especially if you didn't have a reaction to the first one.

@justmewithmylifetoday agreed it does make us overthink everything. You have to do what feels right for you, I just decided ( after having Covid in feb) that I’d feel much worse getting it again if I got pregnant. Good luck with whichever you decide Smile xx

After doing lots of research and getting conflicting advice, I spoke to my midwife and was told that they are advising that anyone who is trying to conceive should not get the vaccine xx

mummysharkk · 01/05/2021 22:37

@soontobeamama oh really? Did she give a reason? Interesting to know as I thought everything had now changed for ttc'ers, pregnant and bf women and guidelines were advising they had it.

@justmewithmylifetoday I was going to say I'd go for it until I read the above post!

soontobeamama · 01/05/2021 23:38

She said that at present that is what they were advising as not enough research has been done in how it affects fertility. Also, there have been studies to indicate it can affect your menstrual cycle so she said that if I wanted to get the vaccine, I should wait at least 4 months after getting the jag before trying to conceive as my cycle should be back to normal by then if it was affected. As I am older, I don't have the luxury of time to pause trying to conceive, so have decided not to vaccinate. I have also had multiple miscarriages and do not want to take the risk in case the vaccine may cause problems xx

Arrrh I’m so conflicted. It’s the high temp I’m concerned about as if I have conceived it will be implantation stage or just before. I had a high temp with my last jab. I’ve just tired to reschedule my apt for 2 weeks by then I will know if I’m pg so if I’m not will have it then. No appts to reschedule available at the moment.
