Laparoscopy on period - TTC for 20 months

Hi all,

I have a laparoscopy and hystercopy booked for this Friday.

I am totally paranoid as I have literally just come on my period and it’s quite light but worried it is going to get heavier.

Has anyone else had a laparoscopy whilst on their period ? I am worried it is going to get pushed back!

Thanks!

@kayla03 oh no how long do your periods usually last? Some times I find exercise hurrys mine up a bit!

Hexinthecity · 28/04/2021 20:39

It’s actually better to have a lap when you’re on your period! If they suspect Endo it’s easier to see. You’ll be fine!

Kayla03 · 28/04/2021 21:01

They usually last about 6/7 Days unfortunately! Mine are slightly irregular so was hard to predict when to book it in!

Ah that’s good to hear that it’s better to be on your period! Thank you! :)

@kayla03 hopefully all will be fine! Surely you can be on your period they would have said that in one of your appointments or letters! All the best with it all!! I have mine end of month after 24 months ttc and unexplained.

I mentioned it at my pre op appointment my worries and she said as long as your not "heavy heavy" then you should be fine! So hopefully it will be! Im just such a worrierConfused!

Thank you for your well wishes!
Ive been TTC for 20 months and been diagnosed with PCOS and they are investigating to see if my tubes are blocked so this will determine whether I just need IVF or just Clomid.

I hope your op goes well too, fingers crossed you find out some answers !

Hi @Kayla03 I had my laparoscopy last week and it was a last minute cancellation (so I wasn’t on) but my original date booked for July I - as per my tracking - showed I would probably be on and they said it would be absolutely fine. Any time in your cycle they can do it. Smile

Let me know if you have any questions on the op or anything! I went in not knowing loads so always happy to help if you need anything! x

Thank you @2020TTC! Hope your operation went well and you are recovering well x

Just to keep you updated I had my op done yesterday, I was only spotting so it was all fine! Just recovering now, not as bad I thought it would be except fainting whilst getting changed to go home Confused

Accidentally posted !

So had to stay at hospital for a bit longer! But I think I did too much too fast!

Turns out as well as PCOS I've got stage 2 endometriosis, and lazy ovaries! So whilst I could still potentially convenience naturally she wants to me push me down the IVF route x

@Kayla03 Ah amazing so glad you got it done 👏🏼 Did it all go as planned? Were your tubes fine?

I’m up and about now 1 week 2 days post op but have started my period so have been wiped out exhausted again 😂 I hope your recovery goes well x

Sarahdaydreamer1234 · 01/05/2021 10:13

@kayla03 that's great news! Did they excise or lazer ur endo? Fingers crossed for you now xxx

Kayla03 · 09/05/2021 19:07

Sorry, only just getting round to replying!

Recovery is going well, had my wound inspection yesterday and she said the wounds are looking good!

She managed to excise the endometriosis which is good! My tubes on the other hand, thankfully not blocked but muscle functionality is not working how it should be. So my muscles are dysfunctional!

Hope you are all well x
