Getting pregnant again after TFMR, frer evaporation line, one step lines that dissappear

Hi everybody,

I know this has been highly discussed around here but I'm looking for some support from people who has gone through the same/similar experience.

I went through a TFMR at the start of this year when I was almost 15 wks pregnant.

We have been ttc for the last two months after my first period arrived. I am using OPKs to track my fertile days.

I got pregnant straight away the first time and I am looking forward to getting pregnant again soon. I know that two months is a very short period of time and most people would take longer to conceive. Its just so hard to accept what happened.

The thing is I got FRER tests on the Internet and I tested at 9dpo (BFN) and today at 11dpo with FMU and it looked like a BFN as well. Then I took the test apart and I could see a very faint uncoloured line so I assume it was just an evap/indent line. I read afterwards that once you take them apart they tend to give evaps and are no longer valid.

I also tested with one step and I could've sworn I saw a very faint line when it was absorbing the urine that dissapeared after a few minutes. I'm driving myself crazy with all this "I see lines" stuff. I think early testing isn't a good idea just because it's SO stressful!

Anyway, AF is due in 4 days, I think I'm out this month as I got a very clear BFP the last time I was pregnant at 12dpo with clear blue early detection ones. FRER are meant to be more sensitive, right?

How long did it take you to conceive after a TFMR/ D&C? Any advice would be very helpful.

Hello. I had a TFMR in September last year and have just had a positive pregnancy test a couple of days ago. Had been trying from December. Of course (given what happened last time) much more cautious about being too excited yet!

Best advice, don’t test till after the missed period. Honestly it’s far less disappointing and you’re bound to be less stressed which is healthier for conception.

I wish you good luck with conceiving soon!

Lila88 · 04/04/2021 17:10

Thank you very much for your reply and big congratulations on your positive! That's great news!Smile

Yeah you're right, it's very disappointing to keep testing and not see that second line. Very disheartening, I don't know why I keep doing this to myself!

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

This is a picture of the test I took this morning. It looks like an evap. Will test again in a few days if AF doesn't arrive but I almost positive this is not my month.

@Lila88 yeah I think that sounds like a good plan! It can be so frustrating month to month when you’re waiting for your period. Those last few days before feel so long.

Noodella18 · 04/04/2021 19:08

Erm... I know you've taken the test apart and all, but that line looks pretty pink to me...

NoCallerID · 04/04/2021 20:29

@Lila88 @LittleLottieChaos

We have a TTC and Pregnancy after TFMR in 'Antenatal tests' if you fancy joining? We've all gone through it and everyone is amazing and supportive - and know what you're going through.

Lila88 · 04/04/2021 21:34

@Noodella18 Yeah I know it does there but it's actually quite greyish. It also showed up after 5 mins.

LittleLottieChaos · 05/04/2021 07:11

@NoCallerID yes I’ve seen it, just thought I’d join once I’m a few more weeks along. 😊

Do you think it’s a shame there’s not a board for TFMR? Feels like we have to hide out on the antenatal board...

NoCallerID · 05/04/2021 07:58

@LittleLottieChaos I see ☺️ you're welcome at any point.

I'm not sure. In one way, yes, there should be one, but on the other hand, Mumsnet can be full of keyboard warriors who like to throw nasty things around so having it a little bit hidden almost makes it safer for us. It's a shame that this is something that needs to be considered. I like our little community here and I love seeing so many ladies get their rainbows but anonymity makes us almost more vulnerable. There's a good Facebook Group too, it's regulated and not everyone can join, it's a very safe place but not anonymous like the ARC for example.

BloodyHellAudrey · 05/04/2021 08:56

We're definitely safer hidden off the beaten track. I had a horrible experience with a keyboard warrior /troll on here last week on a thread with a woman seeking support after a TFMR. It really shook me up. Not everyone gets our experience and not everyone is kind sadly.

I'm so sorry about your loss lila and littlelottiechaos Flowers

I've not been impressed with frer of late. Very dark evaps. It's possible you're also having a chemical, or you might actually be pregnant and it's too early for a solid line. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Lila88 · 05/04/2021 09:26

@NoCallerID I had no idea I'll definitely have a look thank you. @BloodyHellAudrey it's so easy to judge and throw nasty comments behind a screen, isn't it? Some people are just like that unfortunately. I still think this is a great community as loads of people have gone through similar experiences. It's funny how you can find support from a complete stranger but it actually helps a lot. Not everybody inside my circle understands, but again they haven't experienced it and I know they try their best.

Anyway I'm still waiting for my AF to arrive and see if I test again or not. Just going to leave it for the moment or else I'll loose my mind!

OP posts:
NoCallerID · 05/04/2021 10:21

@BloodyHellAudrey yes, it's very common unfortunately. I've been called a few awful things, but it's just so easy to do it from behind a screen. I'm fairly confident with our decision but so many women are not and it's just so sick. There definitely needs to be security in place to make sure it stays a safe place, which is not possible on Mumsnet I think.

Without wanting to scare you guys, I know the early resting can be disappointing because you get you're hopes up for them to then be destroyed. The reason I'm 100% pro early testing is what I've been through after our TFMR. I managed to get an infection called Chronic Endometritis, it's a chronic inflammation of the lining of the womb and it prevents the egg from fully implanting. I'd get faint positive tests for a few days then they'd get negative again and I'd start bleeding on or shortly after AF was due. This happened 4 times. It was by chance that the CE was discovered through a trial with Tommy's and I was given medication (since it's a trial it's either antibiotics or placebo, you won't know...but I'm certain I had the actual drug). I am now pregnant again and it's a sticky one (for now). I would've never known there was an issue had I not tested early. I'd still be trying and wondering why things weren't happening, when actually I was pregnant several times but lost all them incredibly early on.

Lila88 · 05/04/2021 10:56

@NoCallerID congratulations on your pregnancy!
I'm so sorry that you have gone through all that. Sounds awful. I'm glad you're fully recovered now.
Did you have any other symptoms apart from the early miscarriages?

OP posts:
NoCallerID · 05/04/2021 11:03

@Lila88 I had a very high fever for a few days less than a months after my TFMR but it was put down to COVID (March last year, I've tested negative for antibodies late on) so was told to self isolate. No other symptoms as the common smelly discharge, pain, painful sex etc. CE doesn't really have any symptoms and it's only possible to diagnose it through a biopsy (which in the UK is currently only possible through the Tommy's CERM trial). It's very common in other countries like US and Germany to test for before you have IVF.

NoCallerID · 05/04/2021 11:06

@Lila88 that comment was written awfully, sorry...
I meant I had no symptoms than the miscarriages, so none like the ones usually listed for infections like smelly discharge etc.

Lila88 · 05/04/2021 12:31

@NoCallerID I'm glad you got diagnosed and treated. That must've been hard. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy .
