Anyone having a break from ttc because of a Christmas time due date?

I'm not but wondering if anyone is?!

When ttc the first we did wait to miss a potential Christmas baby because no one ever seems to have good things to say about Christmas birthdays.

This time round time isn't on our side and a Christmas or summer baby would be an absolute blessing.

I hadn't thought about this Blush
Also my two step kids have both their birthdays in December.
Oh well, probably won't happen again this month anyway!
I think every month is an opportunity to be pregnant so it would be silly if someone put it off for just that reason.

I’ve really been thinking about this. This would be our 2nd proper month of TTC baby #1. I’ve put my dates into a calculator and it’s coming back with a due date of 31/12/21, considering it’s a first baby you would expect I’d go over around a week, but do we take the chance of going a week early Shock!

I think we’ll take the trying but not trying approach this month and not track anything, that way what’s meant to be will be!

Eager to here other replies to this one though!

I had a baby due on Christmas day - he was born a week later thankfully but it didn't put me off trying.

He's the apple of my eye, wouldn't have him any other way Smile

DS1 was due 15th Jan, ended up being born following induction on 1st Jan after a four day induction.

You can't tell - you could still easily have an early December baby if you conceived literally now.

ChelseaCat · 01/04/2021 20:58

I was due 13 January and went into labour on Boxing Day. You never know!!

We seriously considered it when trying to conceive DC1. We had been trying for several months, and DH eventually vetoed it, saying that if we were trying several months down the line, we would always have wondered if that would have been our lucky month. Sure enough, DC1 was due Christmas Eve, but held on for a few days, and quite likes his birthday.

My birthday is close to Christmas and to think my parents wouldn't have conceived me if they had known or predicted this is a strange thought haha

I personally wouldn't especially if you've been trying for some time as in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter if you end up with a BFP?

Hi 👋🏻
We decided to try for another baby at the beggining of March.
This will be DC#3, with both of my previous pregnancies, I went into labour at 37weeks. I don't know if thats the stage my body decides it's time, or if it's just been a coincidence. 🤷🏼‍♀️
But to avoid a Christmas baby, I've worked it out that 37weeks back from the 1st Jan is the 17th April.
So we aren't so much as taking a break, because right from the start I knew it would fall around Christmas. But we are using condoms until the 17th, to avoid a Christmas 'due date'. 😊

I spoke too soon!

(Hopefully) December baby, here we come!

Awwww yay!!!!
Congratulations @PapaSierra

December birthdays can be a pain but you make it special in any way you can. My daughter is a Christmas Eve baby so she gets a day on 24th June where she gets her main present and a general fuss made of her. She thinks it's amazing as she gets 2 days.

The time of year her birthday is is actually only a microscopic part of her life. Otherwise she's just a child like all the others and I can't imagine that I wouldn't have her if I'd decided not to try in no March.

purplebiscuits · 01/04/2021 22:19

@PapaSierra congratulations that's amazing!
Bet you don't care when your due date is now do you?

@TinyGringotts just out of curiosity, have you only got dd? I think 24/6 celebration is a great idea and wondering how I'd work it with other dc...

Interesting replies thanks everyone 😊

@purplebiscuits no I have an older daughter too. Her birthday is in the summer and a really 'convenient' time for friends' parties etc so she only gets her day. She's totally understanding as to why and is very sweet about it.

purplebiscuits · 02/04/2021 07:09

@TinyGringotts sounds like you have lovely well balanced children Smile

This is us too, we decided to TTC #3 in February - it was a very unexpected conversation, we both thought we were done but were always not quite sure...youngest DD is 7 and while we've given loads of baby stuff away (including maternity clothes) I've held on to some newborn things all this time. Both DDs are summer babies and for various reasons we'd ideally want a home birth this time, and want to try and avoid midwives struggling to reach us in the snow!

I got a smear letter this week so have also decided to wait til that's done to try again. I'm wondering about Covid vaccine as well but have found out I have antibodies so not as nervous about delaying that if necessary. So it's looking more like May TTC for us.

Congrats @PapaSierra how exciting Smile

I'm ttc while breastfeeding so when it will happen who knows. But 2 years back when ttc DD April was the only month I didnt want it to happen as the due date would have been so close to christmas... and guess what, that was the month it happened and she was born 28th Dec!
