UK NHS IVF Eligibility Criteria

Hello folks,
My wife and I are trying to conceive and know that realistically IVF is our only route. (My wife is 40, I'm 48.) We have been referred to our local NHS IVF clinic, but are torn about whether to tell them that we've already had two (unsuccessful) rounds of private treatment in my wife's home country.
It seems hard to find a definitive list of criterea for NHS eligibility online - and most things we've read seem to indicate that if we tell them we've tried privately, we may be refused on the NHS.
We're very much not rich - and the IVF so far has been a massive financial stretch - only really made possible with help from our parents. We're torn between not declaring it, so as not to ruin our chances on the NHS - and obviously being aware that it's information our NHS clinic really need to know about my wife to give us our best chance.
Does anyone have any experience with this they can share and / or advice?
Many thanks,
Mr&Mrs

And yet a couple of weeks ago a poster said some friends of hers were having IVF to conceive a third child on the NHS.

Search the CCG for your area so, for example, CCG ivf criteria Manchester

Hey @JackSpratt00 it depends on your local ccg policy (you can Google it to get it). For instance mine allows two rounds of private ivf before forfeiting nhs ivf so here you'd be fine.

Perhaps also weigh up the need to tell them? Unless you know what type of ivf works better for you, and you're really keen on going down that route - I'd just not tell them to be honest!

Definitely check. In my area no previous rounds are allowed even if they were private.
