Hi, I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone had experienced anything similar to this. It's the weekend and I can't call my doctor, so would love to share stories.

My husband and I have been TTC for over 3 years. We dtd practically every day, so the notion that it hasn't happened yet is intimidating. We've both done some initial testing a couple months ago, and started vitamins, but with covid it's been hard to get the ball rolling as fast as we'd like.

I've been charting for the last 5 months, and using LH test strips. Last month was really stressful, so I didn't chart very well at all, but I got my period Feb. 22nd, on time. It was on the heavier side and lasted for 7 days. Now today, which would be CD12, I went to take an LH test and it came back as a strong peak, which is odd for me, because I usually ovulate later than earlier.

So on a whim, I took a HCG (a cheap one) and there is a faint line, but definitely there.

I'm thinking it might be a faulty test or something, I'm going to try to get a better one. But it just seems like that can't be possible. I just don't believe it.

Is it possible to get a full blown period for a week and still be pregnant?

(I'm so sorry if this is in the wrong forum area, I wasn't sure where it best applies)

Hi @Juniper35 , this happened to me last year, I also got a blazing OPK but on cycle day 7 which was very early for me. It was also after a normal period. Sadly for me the line never got darker and after a week I started to bleed again so have put it down to a chemical.
I did lots of research over that week though and found a few success stories, so my fingers are crossed that you have a better outcome.
Word of caution, I have also heard that it can be a sign of ectopic so if you end up in any pain definitely get it checked out!

Thanks for your reply @LondonladyTTC!

I'll definitely be ringing my doctor early Monday morning to come in and get checked if I get another positive. Anything ectopic is pretty scary to me, and I'd want to catch it as soon as possible.

I'm glad to hear that there were some success stories. I will remain cautiously hopeful then.

@Juniper35 yes this is absolutely possible! Happened to me last year and now I'm mum to a 6mo :) I'd been TTC for a while but my ovulation was all over the shop!

This has happened to me and sadly it was an ectopic pregnancy so I would contact your go
If you are still getting positive tests by Monday. Good look op

I just found a frer and took it and it was even darker. Shock

I'm a complete worry wart when it comes to any of the scary outcome stuff. I'm going to call my local walk-in clinic tomorrow morning. I don't know if I'll make it through the weekend, with my sanity intact, otherwise.

Thank you @Fedfedfedup for sharing your positive outcome. I'm going to cling onto that tightly until I can get to the doctor.

I'm so glad this forum exists. Smile

Update:
I went to the walk-in clinic a couple hours ago. I explained everything to the nurse, and she admitted it was really strange, but that she "heard stories" so it could be possible.

They did a blood test that I'll get the result of tomorrow to check hcg levels. She said that I should definitely call my ob/gyn Monday and set up an appointment.

I was really hoping for a script for an ultrasound, but the nurse said they couldn't give me one, I'd have to go to my regular doctor or the ER to get one.

I asked her about the more serious stuff, and she said if that was the case I should be in pain, so she doesn't think so. She did press around on my stomach, and nothing hurt, just some mild discomfort.

So still playing the waiting game, but I'm a little less nervous at this point.

Got my fingers crossed for you! Keep us updated x

I got my hcg blood back. It was 109.

From what I can tell, if my LMP was Feb. 22nd, that's really good, (and also seems almost impossible since that means I must have ovulated no later than day 2 of my period), but if my LMP was Jan. 21st this seems like a really low number.

I'm just completely speculating though, since I haven't gotten in to see my ob/gyn yet.

Anyone have experience with hcg blood levels?

Still waiting on my doctor to call me, but I took another test and the line was a lot lighter. Sad

I'm thinking now this might have been a chemical and I just had a lot of the hcg left in my body a week and a half after my period.

Figured I should update this, because I see so many threads that don't have any definitive answers.

My doctor thinks it was a chemical, and that the hcg just lasted longer than expected in my blood afterwards. My ultrasound came back with no signs of ectopic, so that was a relief.

Got my period again a few days ago, with a 24 day cycle (which is short for me), so I guess my body is trying to reset.

Trying again this month. Good luck to everyone!

@Juniper35
Hello, just came across this post and thought i would message. Ive just experienced pretty much the exact same thing as you. My GP thinks i had a very early miscarriage. I tested postive on CD8 after getting a positive OPK. Then had bloods done. Similar levels to yourself which were then retested 48 hours later and had halved. Currently waiting for my AF to arrive. Hope your ok and positive vibes for a new cycle x
