Period but possible positive test?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to conceive for 1.5 years. Got pregnant in September but sadly had a miscarriage at 9 weeks.
When I got pregnant that time, I had what looked like a normal period, but 10 days later I found out I was pregnant.

Fast forward to now. I tested 2 days before my period was due and it came back negative. My period arrived when expected, and all was normal except that it was slightly more liquid/flowy than usual. Today it’s the end of my period (5 days) and I thought I’d do a pregnancy test just in case, and I can see a faint line.

Has anyone experienced this? Could it be an evaporation line? Or a chemical pregnancy?

Many thanks in advance :)

@Fizzybelts mine lasted about 4 days, and wasn't particularly different from a normal period, other than maybe being more "flowy" than usual...

Yes mine was about 3 days which is similar to normal. Fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

FRER was neg this morning

I think I'm going to stop using the OneStep tests, I've read a fair few reviews now which have said that they're quite notorious for false positives. So so cruel

ChispaSara · 10/03/2021 15:23

@BabyBee93 I'm so sorry :( it is cruel indeed! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for next month ❤️

Oh I hope that means it’s good news for you @ChispaSara - do you think the doctor will accept you for bloods now?

Fizzybelts · 10/03/2021 20:36

@ChispaSara
Thats great news, whats the next plan? Will you be calling the doctor?
Positive test again this morning with clear blue. Ive had more bloods done this afternoon so will see what happens. Im really worried about it :(

ChispaSara · 10/03/2021 21:41

I've called the Early Pregnancy Support I unit. They won't do a blood test, and said that sometimes implantation bleeding can look like a period. They said not to worry and to get back in touch if I have any more bleeding or if I have pain... they also suggested doing home pregnancy tests from time to time to make sure there's still a strong positive... Fingers crossed!

@Fizzybelts let us know how you get on. Sending you lots of strength ❤️

Hey ladies,
Can I join in?

I had a 2 day “AF” on Saturday but I’m always a 4-5 day heavy bleeder. This “AF” was a bit late, didn’t start as it usually does, and then all of the sudden after a day and a half goes to spotting... I’m having a lot of trapped gas as well and I felt like I got a stomach bug Sunday evening, I was shaky and super nauseous... anyway today I figured it had been a few days so I decided to take a test and with some major tweaking (because I had crazy line eyes) I could see a second line on my cheapie. It was not FMU and it had only been like a proper 2 days since the spotting stopped... I just don’t know what to think of this, it’s so bizarre.. I plan on testing with fmu tomorrow and see? 🤷🏼‍♀️ How are you all getting on? Congrats on your FRER @ChispaSara !! That means there’s hope yet ✨👼🏼

stairgates · 11/03/2021 17:28

Just popped back on and would definitely say that yours was looking very positive Chispa! Great news on the Frer!! So excited for you :)

ChispaSara · 11/03/2021 17:43

Hi @gingerglitter4ever :) it's so confusing, isn't it? Will you test again in a couple of days?

@stairgates thanks! 🥰 I'm still finding it hard to process it all, and I keep wondering if I'm going to see more blood... however, there is hope! ❤️

Hi ladies,

Just been reading this thread with interest! I got a positive FRER on Monday the day before my period was due, on Tuesday morning my 'period' started, enough for a pad throughout the day but had reduced to spotting by the next day! Did another FRER thinking id had a chemical after surgical management for a MMC in December... And the test was much darker! They have continued to be positive with clear progression!

Still struggling to believe its good news after the bleeding but taking each day as it comes!

These were my tests... Top on the day before my 'period' and the rest after the bleeding has started!

Period but possible positive test?
ChispaSara · 13/03/2021 07:31

Hi @Pettylamby! That looks like a pregnancy to me :)

When I called the Early Pregnancy Support unit, they explained that sometimes when an egg implants it can cause a "bruise" on the lining of the womb, causing a bleed that is heavier than the usual implantation bleeding we read about.
They also said that 50% of pregnant women and people experience bleeding in early pregnancy! Why don't we know more about this and that it's more common than we think? 🤯
