I’ll find out at the weekend if we’ve been successful this month. Part of me hopes we haven’t been so that I can wait until I get my vaccine.

I’ve posted on this before but it really is clouding my excitement of possibly being pregnant.

My life will remain on hold and I’ll forever be worrying my dp or older children will bring the virus home.

I’m 39 and my bmi is 28 so I’m overweight. I have lost a stone since January.

Would anyone have the vaccine in pregnancy? Do we need to shield? How will that work with secondary school age children and other people coming into to contact with me?

I have my second vaccine in a couple of weeks (work in healthcare). I'm waiting until after to start ttc. I've seen ladies on here that are still actively trying though.
It says you should get the vaccine when pregnant if you are high risk and I think that once more trials are done the vaccine will be approved as safe while pregnant but as I am so close to my 2nd dose I just thought I would wait it out.
I also had GD in my first pregnancy which is a high risk group for covid so would rather be vaccinated before pregnancy.

I'm on a similar boat, I've had my first dose 2 weeks ago as I have asthma, my second dose isn't until May. I don't want to pause ttc until then so considering I've had my first dose we are just going to keep ttc and if we havent had any luck by May then I will get my second dose. Also my cycles are sometimes 45-50 days long so I already feel like I have half the amount of opportunities as someone with a regular cycle.

Thanks both. If we’re not successful this month I’ll definitely wait. I don’t think I’ll get my first dose until April.

It’s like everyone will be back to normal except pregnant women or those clinically unable to have the vaccine.

I would probably start ttc after my first jab.

Lots of pregnant women have been vaccinated as part of the rollout and they are monitoring outcomes/safety etc. One of the Oxford vaccine team was on Today this morning saying they expect results about outcomes in pregnancy very soon. So that should help you decide what to do (either whether to vaccinate if already pg, or whether to wait if not).

AlexaPlayWhiteNoise · 02/03/2021 11:54

I woukd/will be taking the jab as offered and continuing to TTC.

Only thing I would recommend as your BMI is near 30 is to talk to your GP about being prescribed a higher dose (5mg) of folic acid.

I got a bfp this morning so my decision has been made for me!

I’m going to keep going with my food and exercise so will hopefully stay relatively healthy. I’ve now lost 1 stone 2 lbs 😀

Thank you! I did not expect it as no symptoms at all. I guess I’m in for another quiet year!

Huge congratulations! :) I've been totally torn over this too and had the same feeling during the two week wait...if negative should we wait etc. I decided we would just crack on as my concern was if we waited and then there was another delay due to new variant / something else it could be a really long wait (plus have to wait another 3 months for the second vaccine shot). Also initial studies are showing the vaccine seems to be reducing transmission rates so you're hopefully less likely to catch it from other people even if you've not had the vaccine yourself.

Fingers crossed we get some data soon on pregnancy trials as I'd like to still have the vaccine if I fall pregnant during that time period.

Best of luck and big congrats on your BFP :)

LilyCat43 · 03/03/2021 09:59

I wondered this too. I've had a bfp this week but officially AF due tomorrow. Have an appointment next week for vax and don't know whether to go ahead or cancel 😩 I really want dro get the vax and tbh don't know why I've been sent an appt so early. Obviously things could still change over the weekend and I'd be able to have it but if this is a successful pregnancy then I don't know what to do. 🙈

Helenj1977 · 03/03/2021 11:30

Congratulations @LilyCat43 🎉

It’s certainly very worrying. I’ll keep wearing a mask etc even if they lift that. I’ll be annoyed if they bring out the vaccine passport and dp thinks he can go out without me 😂
