cycle so long and not getting strong LH strips

My cycle has become so long since coming off the injection in oct 2020. (last depot was july 2020). My cycle is between 35 and 45 days and i only seem to ovulate on some cycles. Before the depot my cycle was always bang on 28 days every month.
I was using the clear blue smiley face things but now have switched to the cheapy amazon strips.
i was getting smileys when i was using the clear blue tests but now im just getting faint lines with the LH strips.
Even the control line is faint and i am using the first morning wee like it says to.
either i am doing something wrong or my cycle is just a complete mess. Im not actively TTC but i want to track my cycle getting back to normal for our future TTC.
Can anyone offer any help/tips.

The depot is meant to be the most annoying contraceptive to come off of and for a lot of ladies it takes quite a few months to regulate after it.

Firstly - are you sure your cheap opks are telling you to use FMU? The majority of them specify not to use FMU specifically.

Secondly I'd strongly recommend you start temping to figure out what's going on. It's possible you're not ovulating or that you're just missing your peaks - only temping can help you figure that out!

Thanks @Juno231 just reread and it says NOT to use FMU.
I completely read it wrong, I will now aim to use the second wee after my FMU.
ive heard the depot causes grief for 9 months ish after the last jab, my last one was in june so i should be getting back to normal ish now, guess all i can do is wait.
thanks

With LH strips I was always testing around afternoon because as I understand it LH concentration builds up during the day. If you're doing it in the morning you might be ovulating and just missing the surge.
