Lubricant, have I wasted my chance this month?

First month ttc number 2. Have been using lube as I’ve been a bit dry sometimes. Just finishing my fertile window and read all about the negative effects of regular lube. Will get preseed for my next cycle, but just wondering if anyone has used regular lube and got pregnant? So annoyed with myself for wasting this month’s opportunity 😞

It's only one month and only your first month TTC. I wouldn't worry about it, just wait and see if you get your period and if so then use preseed from now on. No harm done!

@EmbarrassingMama I know. I think I’m just putting pressure on myself as we conceived ds in the first month trying so I wanted the same to happen again, although deep down I know it doesn’t work that way

It is meant to be a big no no. You can definitely be the exception though - it still happens! (I've seen it on here on MN). Did you use it every time?

I do use it every time, I think more out of habit as after having my ds I experienced quite a lot of discomfort when having sex until around 4 months ago. I definitely won’t be using it anymore!

I understand. We conceived the 1st time with DS and this one has taken 13 months!

I have and I did. The pregnancy didn't stick but it's deff possible.

@LittleGwyneth sorry to hear that but it’s also reassuring to know that it is possible. I just can’t stop beating myself up, but I guess at least I found out at this stage and not later on down the line.

I have no idea - but I have needed some lube since the birth of my first DC and have gotten pregnant twice after with no issues. So it can’t be a total problem!

A quick google seems to suggest it doesn’t affect your chances -

@DinoHat I too have read that article but a lot of others that I have read have suggested that it makes things harder. Who knows 🤷‍♀️, will just have to wait and see. We use pjur which claims that it doesn’t affect fertility, but I expect that they all say that!

I used KY jelly my first month TTC in November (meant to be a big no-no lube to use) and I conceived! I later had a missed miscarriage but obviously not related to the lube haha.

I'm now using preseed as I may as well maximise my chances!

@LauraT94 sorry to hear about your mmc, but good to know that I do have a chance. I will definitely be getting some preseed!

We used heaps and were fine but I also read that in my two week wait and worried so much!

@Lelophants that’s good to know! I know, why do we do it to ourselves when it’s then out of our control?!

I used it and have conceived twice. Just don’t use spermicides. In theory in could slow down the sperm so don’t use it liberally!

@Tibtab is that preseed you mean or non-fertility lube?

Hi OP, I used lube (KY Jelly) when I conceived DD2 on the 2nd cycle. It was only well into the pregnancy I realised you were not supposed to use it! 🤦

I just used regular lube not preseed

TTC DC1 I used regular lube (and lots of it) for 2 cycles then realised, switched to preseed and conceived on the 3rd. DC2 conceived 1st month TTC using preseed so I did think there might be some truth there. As others have said it's only 1 month though, good luck

@Emeraldgreen1 hiya when I dried up me and dh would u baby oil. Had 2 kids no problem. Lol. I now know about preseed so might purchase and use that from now.

Morning! Hope it’s ok for me to jump on here? Trying to conceive our second and on 2ww of month two. We used pre seed this month and fingers crossed it works but having not used lube before, any info is great!
