Covid and midwife appointments

Hi all.

I appreciate this will differ between areas, but what and when should appointments be had when pregnant? My last child was 2016 so o can’t remember! I’m about 5.5 weeks and I’ve called to make my booking in appointment but was surprised they won’t see me until gone 9 weeks and it’s on the phone so no tests, measurements or face to face contact. Obviously I’ll then have to wait for a scan before 13 weeks. How many appointments are the norm? I don’t want to put any midwives at risk or overstretch the NHS I just want to ensure I’m getting the right appointments etc.

Thanks in advance!

A lot of areas are doing what you have described and then doing the bloods etc that would usually be done at booking with the 12 week scan appointment. Some areas are doing 16 week appointment by phone as well but I think all after that should be F2F.

Same as normal but they will decide at booking how many F2F and when round here. I have blood forms to go and get done before my scan but that's no different to before covid round here, midwife never does them anyway.
