Hi everyone,

This time last year I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks, after an unplanned pregnancy with my partner of 3 years'. Although it was a surprise, it was a baby that was really wanted by both of us. The event forced us to discuss starting a family and we agreed in a years time we'd be in a better situation.

1 year on, as promised, we've decided we're ready to try and conceive again - this time on purpose!

I've got my Pregnacare conception vitamins (his/hers). Started tracking my cycle since I came off the pill at the start of the year.

I've been googling like mad, but I'm interested to hear your top tips too. Particularly around diet - I'm a fussy eater! And how to cope if/when your period arrives.

Many thanks

I conceived easily but diet wise I didn’t do anything too drastic - I don’t eat many takeaways, I don’t drink much so there was no alcohol in my system most of the time. If you smoke, stop.

The things I did were the vitamins, folic acid and period tracking, that’s it.

@snufkins

That's great.

We're non-smokers, have stopped drinking and we're fit/healthy enough too.

Takeaways would be my weakness, but I'd have only 1 a week or every other week.

Reduce caffeine intake, keep active, start dtd every other day as soon as you finish your period and up to and including the day you ovulate.
Do not use lube / ky jelly. It is unfriendly to sperm
Lay down for a good 15 mins after sex (don’t go for a wee / wipe...got to give the sperm every possible chance)
I’ve conceived pretty quickly 2 times doing this

Caffeine also, I had maximum 2 cups of coffee a day during pregnancy so if you can get into the habit now it can only benefit you. You are definitely more prepared than I was I didn’t google what I should and shouldn’t eat! Hope you get pregnant quickly.

Thank you guys. I actually never drink tea/coffee - just never liked it! Sometimes a fizzy drink but not very often! And I absolutely will be cutting them out while TTC. @beelzeboob @Snufkins

It's a very exciting chapter to begin, I hope everything works out this time around x

@Rachipops hi! Advice would be the same as the previous posts, eat healthy, less caffeine, take folic acid. Another thing I've read is to make sure to have a good breakfast.
Also DTD every other day in FW to avoid the regret of finding out you've ovulated and you didn't DTD the previous two days like I just have!

The TWW is a little nerve wracking as you're symptom spotting like crazy and reading everyone else's symptoms on here makes you more paranoid about yours and you convince yourself you're pregnant, but it's fun and everyone on here is super helpful when it comes to wanting advice and help with anything.

As for when AF arrives, this is my second cycle and being naive I thought it would happen the first cycle as it did with previous pregnancies. But once I knew I wasn't, as disheartening as it was, I wanted AF to hurry up and come and go so I could get on with cycle #2.

Good luck with your TTC journey, keep us posted on how you're getting on! xx
