Ovarian cyst - leg pain

Hi ladies

A couple of years ago, after some investigation, a small cyst was found on my ovary. The doctor says there was no cause for concern and as I wasn’t TTC at the time I put it to the back of my mind as the contraceptive pill was managing any pains and spotting.

Now I’m TTC I am even more tuned into my body and noticed today sudden pains in my leg, that come and go intermittently, a pain that feels is connected to my cyst. It’s deep and right in the nerve that radiates through my whole right leg. I can’t even explain why it feels connected to the cyst but I get a very small ache in my ovary too, similar to a dull period pain.

I googled it and read that it’s common for women with endometriosis to experience these kinds of pains in their leg. Whilst I wasn’t diagnosed with endometriosis, and in no way do I think I have it now as I don’t have those symptoms, I’m wondering if my cyst is perhaps getting bigger, or changing somehow?

I’m not looking for any diagnosis on here obviously, but wondered if anyone here had experienced this kind of leg pain because of ovarian cysts and/or endometriosis?

I’m only on cycle 4 of TTC so too early for any investigation at the docs. Currently CD7 and just came off my period.

Appreciate anyone who would like to share!

Yes that sounds like it could be endometriosis. It often doesn’t cause fertility problems so don’t worry too much about that. But I would still recommend asking your GP for a gyne referral for the pain (and possible investigations in the future) as it can take a while to work through the waiting list. (So it won’t hurt to get in the system now if you see what I mean.)

Hey, I feel like I may be experienced enough on cysts to give you my experiences 😬 I had one about 5/6 years ago that grew to a about 6cm (a side effect of the coil). I had bad pain when DTD and sore boobs. That cyst was surgically removed.
At the moment I have 5 haemorrhagic cysts. One is 4.6cm on my right ovary and four around the 2.5cm on my left ovary. All mine have ruptured from DTD and these have been extremely painful. These ones are caused from superovulation from Clomid and basically I released 5 eggs and instead of my follicles turning into a corpus Luteum cyst (like in normal ovulation) mine bled into the follicle and got bigger. My big one on the right give me a pain down my right leg like you've described so I think it may just be it pulls on the ovary (well that's how mine feels like) and my pelvis feels very heavy.
Do you have any pain DTD? Or going to the toilet? Or laying on your side? These things have all been uncomfortable for me.
I would say either push for a scan to check your cyst or if you are able to pay for a private one like I've done. They're about £80-90 but it'll be quicker than waiting for one on the NHS.
