Hycosy

I just wanted to put something on about my Hycosy procedure I had yesterday.

I had read a lot of horror stories prior to going to my appointment and I was petrified! It kept me up for nights leading up to it and when I was there I was shaking so much I couldn’t sit still!

My Hycosy was not bad at all! So I hope this can help put anyone that is reading this mind at rest as I know how awful it can be reading about people’s bad experiences.

They started with the internal scan which is all fine nothing different to a normal scan. They then put the spectrum in again fine same as a smear. They then insert the catheter, now unfortunately they had some trouble getting mine in and it took about 15-20 mins of trying and 2 doctors but eventually it went in. It was definitely uncomfortable and painful at times but just like an intense bad period pain nothing worse. They then inflate the balloon I did not even feel this part and then injected the liquid again I felt nothing at this part. Now luckily I had no blockages so this is probably why the injection part was less painful however I have read many stories about people saying the catheter and balloon part are unbearably painful and fortunately for me this was not the case. It is different for everyone so it is good to go in knowing what to expect but I can honestly say if you are nervous please try not to be as for most people it is not a bad procedure. I took two Ibruprofen and paracetamol before hand.

If you have any questions I would be happy to answer Smile

@Conundrum12345

Hi just found this

Having hycosy on Tuesday CD10. I ovulate day 15/16 usually. Should we avoid intercourse?

I had a hysterscopy a few months ago which was so painful. Is this as bad?

Hello,

Good luck with your Hycosy. No you are fine to have intercourse after 24 hours. We did and it was absolutely fine.

I have never had a hysterscopy so unfortunately can not compare however from what I have read the hycosy is a less painful procedure! I hope this is the case for you!

The hycosy was the most painful procedure I've had. I had to ask the doctor to stop. She only got to see one tube and said there's options to look at the second which she'll be talking to my consultant about :(

So disappointed. The tube she couldn't see was the one I'm ovulating from Sad
