Pregnant after MMC? Advice and line eyes please...

Hi everyone,

I had a scan which confirmed a MMC at 7.5 weeks in November, although it was actually another two and a half weeks before the miscarriage completed on the 6th Dec (with medical management). I bled for around two weeks at that point. Had the negative pregnancy tests to confirm the miscarriage was complete.

On the 3rd Jan I started my period again, although as expected, it was different to normal (normally very light and lasts for 3-4 days). Instead it lasted for 8 days and was heavy and kept stopping and starting. My cycle is also usually 24-25 days but I’m not sure how to count the days following the post miscarriage bleed so not sure if I’ve had a ‘normal’ cycle for me yet. Anyway, my period for this month still hasn’t arrived and as yesterday was day 27 I took a pregnancy test in the evening (just a cheap one from the co-op) and there was definitely no line on it, absolutely nothing. Period still hadn’t arrived this morning, so I’ve taken another test and can now see this line. I’ve always had very strong, dark lines on pregnancy tests in the past, should I be worried that this is quite faint? Are my HCG levels low again? Problem is, I’m not sure if my cycles are out of whack and if that’s messing things up, or if this pregnancy won’t work out either.

I’m not sure if I’m even making any sense? Very anxious about it all. Sorry.

Are you able to post a pic of the test?

If it has colour, it’s a positive. If it’s a grey line, it’s an indent. Assuming it’s a pink dye test and not a blue. Faint lines are usually an indicator of low levels BUT it could be that the embryo has only just implanted so would only be low levels at this point. Id deffo test again in the morning and keep an eye on the line progression to see how it goes. Would also be worth calling your gp and asking for the hcg blood tests to be done. They’ll do 2 in 48hrs and look to see if they’re doubling which is whats needed.
It did take my cycles a couple of months to settle back down following each mc.

My cycles went crazy after each of my miscarriages, took 2-3 months for them to settle down. It's very possible that you're just testing earlier than you thought.
Congratulations!

@GoryGilmore that’s a positive!!! The light colour could just be because the levels haven’t built up much yet as that does take a while.

That’s very much a positive. Fingers crossed for you!

Gamechanger2019 · 31/01/2021 09:13

Congrats that’s definitely positive 🙌🏼 Best of luck

Thank you for your kind words everyone. I’ve got two more tests so will test again over the next few days to see if it gets darker. I think I’m just a bit in shock that I fell pregnant so quickly (and for the first time ever not using ovulation sticks).
