14 DPO very faint positive - is it a chemical? Help pls

Hello everyone,

Just to give some background in October we lost our baby girl at 16 weeks as she was very poorly. Since then me and my husband have had a hole in our hearts and decided to start ttc again this month. I have always fallen quite quickly with my pregnancies but since our loss my periods have changed a lot. I used to have 26 day cycles and now they are 31 days.

So when I got only a faint line at 14DPO I can’t help think that’s a bad sign? I have always had visible lines at 9/10dpo in previous pregnancies. I also wiped tonight and there was light pink streaks in my cm.

Is it likely this is going to be a chemical? I’m so emotional and clutching onto the hope of being pregnant again that my heads all over the place.

Please help ❤️🙏🏻

Hi, so sorry for the loss of your baby, I can't imagine what you're going through.

I wanted to say I'm in a similar position. Have two very faint positives on FRER from yesterday and today (photo attached from yesterday) but now have just started spotting this evening (AF is due this coming Tuesday) so also wondering if it's a chemical or a faulty test or something. It feels like my period is on the way. I'm feeling so down - wish I knew what was going on.

Hi OP. Didn’t want to read and run. My very faint positive at 14DPO got stronger and stronger but eventually miscarried at 8 weeks. So that wasn’t a good outcome, but it might just be that your cycles are all over the place. You can only wait and see I’m afraid.

I’m now 25 weeks preg with DC2, and have been taking it one day at a time. My mindset is ‘today, I am pregnant. I am not going to worry about tomorrow’.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for replying @DappledOliveGroves & @recreationalcalpol.

I’m sorry of your loss @recreationalcalpol but congratulations on your current pregnancy. This is my worry with faint at 14DPO that it isn’t going to end well and I’m not sure I will cope after only just coming out of a dark hole from the last loss.

@DappledOliveGroves sorry to hear you are in this horrible limbo too, I really hope it’s good news for us both!!! Keep me posted xx

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. This is our first month TTC after a MMC in July at 10 weeks. The whole thing is such a rollercoaster. Let me know how you get on too.

Bbf25010320 · 31/01/2021 05:01

Did a cb digital this morning and got a ‘pregnant 1-2 weeks’! Praying to god that this bean sticks and we have a healthy pregnancy. The faint line is still worrying me but I guess it’s out of my control and just need to be happy I can still conceive! Xxx

Sorry for your loss. Im going through something very similar. I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks a few months ago. I took a test 2 days ago at 14 dpo which was negative and i was very shocked as with my 2 pregnancies i had pain around implantation time and knew i was pregnant! I had that again last week and was convinced i was pregnant so was very shocked to get a negative test at 14dpo! I was supposed to get AF yesterday but didn't and have had a tiny amount of pink in my cm. Still no AF though and don't want to waste another test if its just going to be negative.. I'm now CD 31 and just waiting for AF to arrive.
Your tests definitely have a faint line 🤞 best of luck!

Hello @namechange7567785544 sorry to hear of your loss it’s really an awful grief when you lose a much wanted baby.

Perhaps you ovulated later and the blood was implantation? Did you use a First Response test? I’m sure if I have tested with a normal test it would have been negative & only got a line because they are sensitive.

I this morning had a similar thing, when wiping I had brown/bloody cm! Now I’m ever more anxious that this will end badly :-( xx

@Bbf25010320 hoping things go well for you. I just did a cheapie test and got another positive - its sensitivity is less than the FRER so hoping it's a good sign but I'm still spotting brown stringy bits when I wipe (apologies for TMI). So really not sure if it's a chemical or an implantation bleed?

I used a cheapie test from Morrison's. Im starting to think AF is going to make an appearance, i can sense it Sad

Tryingforno3 · 15/04/2021 10:29

Hi @Bbf25010320 I’m in a similar position as u with very very faint positive at 14dpo. My last bfp ended in MC at 6 weeks. I’m not holding out much hope for this one. I hope yours was a sticky one in the end xx

Lilipa · 23/06/2021 09:10

Hi, I'm crossing my fingers for you everything to have had a positive outcome. Could share the latest update? I've had 3 miscarriages in a row and just got a very faint line at 14 dpo so I'm so scared there will be once again another miscarriage...:(

Tryingforno3 · 23/06/2021 11:29

@Lilipa unfort In April the line just got fainter for me and a few days later a bleed so I think it was a chemical. However, 2 cycles after that I got a BFP again and although it was faint at 14dpo it did get stronger and stronger (I think I stopped testing at maybe 19dpo!) and I am now 6 weeks pregnant SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

Lilipa · 23/06/2021 11:40

I'm sorry to hear about your initial chemical. But the news about your current pregnancy sound reassuring! I'm crossing fingers for you for this pregnancy to progress!! Please keep me posted, if you'd like. I'll message you as well in the next few days when I have more to share. I'm thinking of going to do a beta-HCG test privately... Really nervous about the progress, but I really want to monitor closer the pregnancy this time. Good luck to you and thank you for taking the time to reply to me!

Tryingforno3 · 23/06/2021 17:19

Yes @Lilipa let me know how you go. Getting your betas checked is a good idea. And have you an early pregnancy unit in your maternity hospital? I’m in Ireland but I know after 3 or more MC they take you on to monitor everything in ur preg more closely

Lilipa · 23/06/2021 17:56

The GP wrote for me a beta hormones check for next week and they'll also be offering me a scan at 8 weeks due to my history. This is so relieving somehow. Thank you so much again for your message and let's keep in touch. :)

Pmadison2022 · 13/08/2021 10:37

Been getting very light postives since 10dpo now today I'm 14 dpo and I just don't know what to think. I'm praying this is my rainbow baby after the loss of my son at 23 weeks... this is so hard

Ellie1311 · 13/08/2021 10:59

Sorry for your loss @Pmadison2022 that must have been so hard :( I’m in same position re tests, got my first bfp at 10 dpo, now 14 dpo and the line has barely got darker at all (maybe only very very slightly) I did a clear blue and that seems a lot darker than the cheapy ones but not sure what to think.
I had an ectopic back in 2016 but went on to have a baby in 2018 (and had my eldest in 2014) so I’m panicking it’s probably another ectopic. I’m also having really awful stomach pain/cramps the past few days so I’m sensing it’s either going to be a chemical or turn into an ectopic.

I really do hope it’s good news for you xx

Ddeason · 31/10/2021 12:19

I am an estimated 3 days away from my period. I took a test yesterday, took pictures and disposed of it in the trash because I didn’t notice this faint line. Hours later I look back at the pictures and notice the very faint line.. I’m not sure if I’m seeing things or what. Please give your opinions!

SammyMit · 17/01/2022 04:13

How did everyone get on with their faint lines? I am 14dpo and after an ectopic and then a successful pregnancy I am nervous it will be another ectopic

Unfortunately mine was a chemical, I then went on to have another in November. Trying again this month.
SammyMit · 17/01/2022 08:14

@Ellie1311 sorry to hear that, good luck for next time 🤞💕

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 17/01/2022 14:13

Hi OP, just wanted to say with my son, I was a week late and still had quite a light line. It was obviously positive but wasn't dark like you see on here sometimes. I am sure if I had tested at 14dpo I would have had a real squinter. Good luck!!

SammyMit · 17/01/2022 15:33

I think it was the tests as went out and bought a clear blue standard one and had this.... so feeling Smile
