Hi girls , just wondering if anyone has been using OPKs and not only never got a peak but also never really got anywhere near one? For most of the month They've been stark white, and on random days they've showed as being like 0.33 or 0.25 but with no pattern to them. Is there any chance I have ovulated or probably not? Thanks for your advice if you have any experience of this

Hey lovely,

OPK's really stress me out, I question myself every month as to when ill ovulate!

I have a 28-35 day cycle and normally ovulate anywhere between cycle day 17 and cycle day 21! What day are you on today? :)

moomalade89 · 29/01/2021 22:39

Thanks for replying! I'm on CD23 but that's after first period off the pill (which only came back after 3 months). So just wondering whether I've missed it or perhaps first cycle it's just not kicked back into ovulating yet!

Do you mind if I ask what sort of range you get with your OPKs? Do you scan them in to get a number or just go by eye?

@moomalade89 I've only ever got to a 0.5 on opks after 8months ttc. Was starting to worry I wasn't ovulating as never saw a peak.
This month someone recommended using the clearblue digital opk which shows up to 4 fertile days. I finally saw a peak!! More expensive but defo worth it as I now feel more relaxed. Also loved the fact u use FMU as I was terrible at holding for the cheaper ones which reccomend testing later in the day.
Maybe worth a try
Good luck xx

ttcjourneyxo · 30/01/2021 12:29

These are my peaks for 3 months worth just to show the dates change for me :)

The rest of the time they're always low/nothing on them :) the first image is of this week and I've done one this morning and it's 0.17

I use the Premom app x

@moomalade89 I have also been experiencing this with my Easy@home OPKs. I only started this month on CD8 and now on CD17. I usually get anywhere between 0.11-0.18 at around 12ish and then it drops at 5pm as low as 00.6 even when drinking next to nothing for 2 hours and holding my pee!

Today (CD17) I got 0.21 at 10.30am, 0.33 at 12pm and then 0.09 at 5pm (I’ve gone a bit overkill because I’m expecting OV). 0.33 is the highest I’ve got so far. I hoped I would see a darker line by now.

My 3 apps predict I will OV either tomorrow, Monday or Tuesday- so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my OPKs will reflect this.

Dixie1488 · 30/01/2021 20:19

@ttcjourneyxo that’s super helpful to see your charts :)

Can I ask what sort of numbers you get prior to CD15? Are they low?

Do your numbers gradually get higher throughout the week? Mine just seem so low!

moomalade89 · 30/01/2021 20:47

Thank you both so much for sharing! I would love to see a strong second line! Maybe I will try the clear blue ones as you did.

I notice lots of people talk about cervical mucus and I really didn't notice much change through the month at all, so not something that would help me to pinpoint ovulation.

@Dixie1488 I'm the same, except sometimes it literally says 0, 'try taking the photo again'. I'm like no... there genuinely is nothing there 😄

Dixie1488 · 30/01/2021 21:49

@moomalade89 Yes that happens to me too! Sometimes I find it’s the lighting though- if I move I get a result.

Do you take your tests at particular times of the day? Do you ever use your FMU?

moomalade89 · 31/01/2021 08:28

@Dixie1488 no I tend to do it in the afternoon , 12-2ish. I'm not very exact about it. I bought the cheap ones off Amazon thinking they'll last AGES but you do get through them don't you! Do you use FMU?

Here is the start of the month when I start testing - always really low and sometimes when they're barely there I don't bother adding the picture! & nothing winds me up more than when it can't pick the line up 🥺🤣

I also NEVER noticed EWCM, I even tried evening primrose oil but didn't notice any different so it got to the point I rang my doctor about it and she said some women do and some don't, it's normally up if your cervix so if you don't produce as much as others, it just isn't showing when you go to the toilet.

So I of course too myself to Google and searched more and came across conceive plus lube - purchased it and thats the month I got pregnant but ended in an early miscarriage!

Back to trying now and 'new year, new me' kind of thing so put myself on a better diet, more water which I drink a lot of anyway (this will effect your LH being picked up also), some of the applicator pack of convince plus (if you Google you'll know what I mean!) & both me and my partner are on the 'his and hers' pregnacare this month - currently 3 DPO so not sure if it works or not yet 🤣 early miscarriage was 1 month trying and now I'm on 5th and back to using the lube as I say, so I hope we get a BFP!

Sorry to ramble, I hope so of this is a little helpful!

@ttcjourneyxo NOT a ramble, super helpful and I appreciate it so much! I'm really sorry to hear you had an early miscarriage, that must've been so difficult. ❤️

Glad to hear (well, you know what I mean...!) about seeing EWCM not being vital. I'd been on the pill for 11 years before coming off to TTC so no idea what's normal, hearing about that was a whole new world 😄

Those pics are really helpful. I'll start checking more than once a day but you know when it's low or nothing and you just think ugh well I won't bother later! I wonder if anyone has got pregnant with consistently very low levels?

My peaks happen very quickly, for example at 5pm today I had a very low reading of 64% , but 11pm I've got my peak at 200%. Make sure you're testing several times a day to catch it!

Juno231 · 01/02/2021 06:59

You could be having a really quick surge potentially. How long have you been off the pill BTW?

For Ewcm, if it worries you then I'd recommend you take evening primrose oil daily in your LP. I had the same lack of ewcm after the pill but as soon as I started taking (2000mg/day) it I've had ewcm every fertile week.

Opks used to really stress me out as I never knew if I'd missed the peak or not. I found taking them in conjuction with bbt tracking really helpful as the temps nicely confirmed when I'd ovulated so I didn't have to continuously doubt myself.

moomalade89 · 01/02/2021 19:04

Thanks @Juno231 - you are definitely right. I've been off the pill for 4 months now and v much aware that stuff probably** will sort itself out in time. But my doctor was concerned about no period until this month, and my bloods came back that my prolactin is a bit too high, so of course that sends you down a rabbit hole too! That could be a reason not to be ovulating. Thanks for the primrose tip! I read something about having to be careful with it?

Dixie1488 · 01/02/2021 19:44

It’s so useful reading everyone’s posts and looking at the charts 😊

I find myself stressing today that I still have such low T/C readings on my OPKs on CD19. It was my predicted day today but only 0.30. I had EWCM for the prior three days though.

I have been testing twice a day since CD8 and the highest only 0.33.

I think reading too much online about short luteal phases has stressed me out. My cycles are an average of 32 days so I worry if I ovulate (if at all) my luteal phase will be too short... is this right? I’m kinda looking for some insight because I’m already going a bit mad haha.

I knew OPK testing would make me obsessed 😂

Thanks girls 💜

Amz6219 · 01/02/2021 20:31

I was the same @Dixie1488, I was getting really disheartened by CD19 morning as I usually ovulate CD16 and was testing twice a day from CD9! Then the evening of CD19 it started creeping up and was strong positive by the next morning.

It’s hard when you keep getting faint lines but keep going, it’ll get there! X

Dixie1488 · 01/02/2021 20:39

@Amz6219 Thankyou! That has made me feel a whole lot better 😊 I appreciate it.

I find that my evening ones always get lighter. I do try to drink less but I find myself so thirsty! Did you drink less on the evening of your darker line on CD19? And did you hold your pee for hours? (Sorry for all the questions) 🙈 I struggle to hold any longer than two.

That’s a big jump from the morning on CD19, so gives me hope! 😄

Amz6219 · 01/02/2021 20:45

Definitely keep testing and try not to get too disheartened @Dixie1488 (easier said than done I know), but it can just shoot up! I was getting so down and did a little happy dance when it was getting darker! 🙈 I know I conceived my son after ovulating on CD19 (but that was 3 years ago!) so later ovulation isn’t totally out of the blue for me really...

I didn’t drink for two hours and held it for about 2.5 hours, was actually easier than I thought! Next day it didn’t matter whether I’d had a drink or not it just came up straight away quite dark x

Dixie1488 · 01/02/2021 21:04

I shall try my best not to get so disheartened but it’s so hard! I keep hoping and every time it’s low. Then I think well I’ve just got dehydrated and busting for the toilet for nothing haha! 😂

Aww I bet you did! I am desperate for it to just happen because I feel it’s bringing my mood down at the moment. Gosh I’m only on first month of TTC 🙈😂

That’s great to know you conceived on a bit of a later CD 😊

Ah okay, good to know. Normally I pee every 30/45 minutes so I do struggle with it. Fingers crossed for some darker lines tomorrow 🙌🏼 Xx

Dixie1488 · 01/02/2021 21:04

@Amz6219 I forgot to tag you x

JL2175 · 08/04/2021 17:45

Hi all,

So sorry to jump on your thread. I’m just wondering if anyone can shine a light on my opk results? I thought I got what was a positive but they have continued to remain high. Does anyone know why this is it what it means? Thank you xx
