Ive been doing some neurotic googling, as you do when ttcing, about LH/OPK charts when pregnant vs not pregnant, seems there is a common trend where LH hormone tends to rise again if someones up the duff, but im wondering if it just depends on the human - not finding a whole lot. Anyone got any data for me to looksy at?

Im specifically looking for 2 comparison charts, so one where you werent preg & one where you were - from those that peed on OPKS throughout the cycle.

Thankyou!

@Braxos neurotic googling - I know that feeling all too well!! HCG & LH are very similar in how they are constructed (apparently) and therefore OPKs can pick up HCG as well as LH (before anyone goes mad at me, I know you shouldn't use OPKs instead of a pregnancy test to see if you have a BFP or not!)

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not, but my first picture is my OPKs from about 4DPO to 10DPO - as you can see, the OPKs got darker at 10DPO which is when I got my BFP in October.

Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage earlier this month and I used OPKs to see my HCG levels going down (again, please no judgement - it gave me a sense of control and helped me no end!). As you can see from the second picture, my OPKs were incredibly strong on the first day of my miscarriage and got progressively lighter. They since returned to baseline and I have had a normal peak due to ovulation.

Sorry I know this isn't exactly what you were after but hope it helps slightly!

That is actually really interesting! I didnt know that about the hormones being similar. Makes sense though i suppose!

Im really sorry for your loss 💗 i dont think anyone is going to judge you for managing your grief in your own way. Hope you're okay 💗

Sorry for your loss @RBCoxie.

OP I had been doing some googling on the same topic too, and as RB said both hormones have a similar molecular composition so could get picked up by an OPK. I've seen a few threads where women tested with an OPK during the TTC window only to get a positive pregnancy result days later.

RBCoxie · 29/01/2021 21:56

@Braxos thank you - I've just seen so many threads were people go ahhh you should only use OPKs for ovulation etc etc etc - I just think use them for whatever helps you! Glad it was useful though 😊

@ree348 thank you - it's certainly been a tough month but back to TTC so got that to focus on now. That's exactly what I did, I used an OPK at 10DPO and then because it had gone up I tested and got a BFP!

Hope your journeys are positive ones ladies!

First photo is pregnant that sadly ended in an early miscarriage.

Second photo is last month and not pregnant (booo!)

Hope this is some help for you :)

@Braxos I’ll try and find the pics but I had that with my first. Kept getting really strong lines on opk’s which was unusual for where I was in my cycle (but followed a mc). Did a pregnancy test and there it was. Turned out I’d lost a twin which was the bleeding I thought was the mc and the start of my cycle again, but twin 2 was still there.

Braxos · 30/01/2021 11:29

Wow @ttcjourneyxo very different!

@Penguinmumma ah thankyou! Sorry for your loss 💗

@Braxos there you go. I lost twin 1 on 20th July. When they did a scan for me on the 21st august after having these positives, twin 2 was sat nice and comfy and dated at almost 6 weeks.

@Braxos yep! It was crazy! I rang my consultants to ask why it would be doing that and she told me to do a pregnancy test. Did it and there it was! Seriously dark line. Rang her back and she told me to come straight in. 1hour later, there was twin 2 who’d been hiding away undetected for weeks. Twin 2 is now about to turn 9yrs old.

@Penguinmumma ah thats so lovely! Well and awful. But mostly lovely! 💗

@Braxos her stubbornness is still just as evident now as it was then 😬😂
