norethisterone - Prescribed to bring on period after coming off pill?

I came off the Pill at the end of June last year and have since only had a 2 day period in October. I have now gone to the Doctor so i can check all is ok and they have had advised I take Norethisterone to bring on my period? Has anyone had experience with this? I am nervous taking another unknown drug incase it has the opposite affect.

Norethisterine does have the opposite effect, I can only guess the GP has suggested you take it for a short time with the idea that stopping it might restart your periods?

It's not an unknown drug though. It's progesterone which will have been in your pill, so you have had it before.

Sorry for posting on an old thread! But did it work to induce your periods?
