Hi all,

We have been TTC for 3 months for our second baby. Last week had a chemical pregnancy. Confirmed today with bloods by GP.

I have got CB ovulation tests to use. Dr said wait 2 months before trying again... said I didn't have too but give cycle chance to get back to normal. We did BBT monitoring and used conceive plus lubrication gel last month and got pregnant but the chemical. Does this increase risks of chemical does anyone know?

We are keen to start trying again... does anyone know that if we do is it likely to end in miscarriage again? Has anyone else who's had chemical pregnancy waited or started trying again straight away?

Sorry for all Qs
Thank you xx

Hi @xem87 sorry to hear about your loss.

There is nothing you can do to increase or mitigate your chance of having a chemical pregnancy. As hard as it is to accept, it's just one of those things (I hate that saying). The lube won't have had anything to do with it.

In terms of waiting to try again, I always thought that the reason to wait following a miscarriage was to do with being able to accurately date the pregnancy. However, with a chemical, the egg doesn't actually implant so your period comes as normal which would mean there would be no issue dating it if you were to become pregnant right away.

I think that if you feel ready to try again then you should go for it. Even the GP said you don't have to wait, they just recommend it (for whatever reason).

Best of luck 🤞🏼

Thank you 😊 so should my period be as normal or later - I'm not sure what I count as day 1... the bleed date or normal date it should have started?
My cycles always 28 days this time I bled 32/33 xx

Sorry for your loss 💕 I had this when trying for our first and after I stopped bleeding my cycle was the same as usual and we conceived our little one that following month (positive test 4 weeks after the bleed)
It was heartbreaking even though early so make sure you are ready and talk if you need to 💕 but you don't need to wait for your cycle to regulate it you track and are ready to keep doing it, may be a delay for you but may be the same I just counted it as a period on my app

Also to add dr confirmed to me that it was nothing I had or could have done it's unfortunately one of those things where 1 in 4 embryos aren't viable so self abort :( it's sad but nothing you didn't wrong or could do to help x

There's no need to wait and certainly not 2 months, I had a chemical pregnancy and conceived the following cycle and had a normal healthy pregnancy.

Hi.. my periods date was 2nd december ..used clomid from 3rd day and have hcg shot on 20th december..21st was ovulation day but 2nd january passed and no periods yet even negative test on strip ..i am upset why periods does not come if no pregnancy?

I started trying again straight away after a chemical probably can't help you tho coz it took 3 cycles to fall pregnant again I didn't miscarry but had a TFMR at 13 weeks due to genetic chromosomal abnormality! Xx
