Have I missed the LH surge??

Hi all Smile

First month trying amazon cheapie OPKs for me. This is our first month "actively" trying, the last 2 months we stopped using contraception but weren't really making an effort to TTC as such, so I'm trying to get my head around everything and doing a lot of googling Smile

I had 2 high readings on the 1st jan (strong second lines but not actually peaks) at 12pm and 5pm (this was CD14). Tested again yesterday at 11.30am and had another high reading but still not a peak, then a low reading later that day and another 2 lows today (now CD16).

I had cramps, tender boobs and EWCM yesterday (CD15), and my apps predicted yesterday as ovulation day. My cycles average about 29/30 days.

Is it likely that I missed the LH surge in the evening of 1st Jan and then ovulated yesterday? And now my levels are back down again? Or is it more likely that I actually haven't ovulated yet?

Also, we DTD CD10, 12 and 15 - am I going to kick myself for missing 13 & 14 or will it be unlikely to make any difference? I've read about DTD every other day but we were both knackered those nights Blush

Thanks in advance and good luck to everybody on your journeys SmileThanks

Hi @mooloop! Its quite easy to miss your peak (I have missed 5 out of 7 months of peaks so far 😆), so you have either peaked and missed it, or not peaked yet. Even if you did get your peak it doesn't confirm that ovulation will happen, it just means you produced enough LH for ovulation to happen. Sometimes my body will have several LH surges before I finally ovulate. Ovulation can only be confirmed by a sustained temperature rise or by tests at a fertility clinic. So my advice in both instances (you peaked and missed it or haven't peaked yet) is to keep DTD every other day or so 😊

Exactly what Kay00 said!

Thanks both Smile

It's a minefield isn't it?! I still have EWCM today (more than yesterday) so maybe I haven't actually ovulated yet. Might give the thermometers a google if we have no luck this month 🤔

@mooloop it is! It's exactly why I caved and got a thermometer - I felt like I spent every cycle worrying I'd missed my peak otherwise. One cycle I was convinced I'd missed my peak and stopped testing but then ended up having a longer cycle by a few days so clearly had ovulated later than I thought and missed it completely by stopping with the opks too early. Not had a single problem like that since I started bbt 😅.
