Hello

Just looking for some advice/ wondered if anyone had a similar situation before. I've been off my pill around 3 months now and my periods seem to go back to normal ( so I thought). I was due on 6 days ago so did a pregnancy test which came back negative. Started having backache and CM so did a opk which showed a faint line. Just wondering whether I ovulated late? Only thing is I thought I had ovulated a couple of weeks ago as bbt and ovulation tests would've suggested so.

Thanks in advance :)

A positive opk is when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. You say the opk you did had a faint line. This is quite normal, most women will see a faint line throughout most of their cycle as there is lh is your system throughout. The darkness of the line then indicates a surge.

3 months off the pill could still just mean your body is getting back to normal.

I’d give it a little longer, perhaps retest with a pregnancy test if you think you still could be.

But with opk’s unfortunately they cannot confirm ovulation has actually occurred, only that your body tried to. Many women get multiple peaks throughout a cycle before they actually ovulate. The only way to confirm that ovulation has actually happened is through charting your bbt.

You may have had a positive opk, thought you’d ovulated, but in actual fact didn’t.

You could try with more opk’s to see if you get a second surge.

Thanks for your reply. It's all new to me and its so frustrating not knowing what my body is doing! I will try with some more opk. Smile
