IVF baby. What is this?!

Hi all, I've posted a few times over the last week. I had a FET 8 days ago and have tested since 4dpt with FRER and every test has been a negative. We have cried, we have consoled each other, we have grieved. My OTD is tomorrow. I did a test this afternoon "just in case" and after 30 secs was negative and I left it and didn't bother looking at it. This is what it looks like now, but it's hours later. Is there any hope?

Well that suggests you have been pregnant. It doesn't mean you are now. I don't know but I couldn't read and run. Such a rollercoaster. I have my fingers crossed.

Daffodil21 · 11/12/2020 22:08

@weekfour I'm not sure that is accurate? Are you suggesting that because the line possibly came up after the time frame that it's indicating a chemical? I'm not sure that is helpful advice, particularly for someone who's having ivf (plus I'm 99% sure that's just wrong).

@Springb0ks how long after taking the test did the line come up? Mine looked similar to yours (more dye on one side) after a little while. The line did definitely come up within the 3 minutes for me though

Flackattack · 11/12/2020 22:09

Tests aren’t valid after 20 minutes, it’s probably an evaporation line. Fingers crossed for you though and you do get a positive

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 11/12/2020 22:10

Sorry but it doesn't look like a valid line.CB have a thick line like the control window..
Ime.

stealthbanana · 11/12/2020 22:11

Erm you obv need to test again. What did you have implanted? A blast, a 3 day embie? Hoping you just had a late implanter!

Springb0ks · 11/12/2020 22:15

@Daffodil21 I've no idea when it appeared. I literally looked after 30 seconds and forgot about it!

Thank you all for your responses. I agree that the most likely outcome is that it's an evap line. Especially after two early pink dye tests were negative yesterday.

We transferred a beautiful, top quality 5 day blast. Everything was perfect but it seems it was not meant to be.

Daffodil21 · 11/12/2020 22:19

@Springb0ks you don't know that yet! Do you have another test to take in the morning? You have no way of knowing if there was a proper line within the three minutes because you only saw it at 30 seconds and then much later

BriocheBuns · 11/12/2020 22:59

If u have another test at home then try one last time and keep an eye on it within the timeframe, good luck 💓

October2020 · 11/12/2020 23:02

That's what my ivf line looked like. Feeding her in bed as I type. Take a few more tests over the next few days.

TheMagicDeckchair · 11/12/2020 23:02

Maybe test again in the morning?

Are you having bloods tomorrow to measure your HCG levels?

October2020 · 11/12/2020 23:03

If you OTD is tomorrow you are definitely still well within a window of possibility.

Patooty · 11/12/2020 23:07

I'd have said evap line but with you not looking after the first 30 seconds I'd definitely test again tomorrow.

Ultimateblends · 11/12/2020 23:13

Its too early op! This is why they ask you not to test before the OTD, I know its so hard as I had a failed round and put myself exactly where you are! I tested and got all positives, then a few days before OTD they got lighter and disappeared. I went crazy looking for lines after the time frame. It was so horrible.

Please retest on OTD using pink dye and prehaps the day after, you'll get a more genuine result. You may have a late implanter.

I started bleeding before OTD so you're very much in the running.

I am going to do another cycle soon, and ive already promised myself no testing until OTD as its so damaging to put yourself through anything else.

Springb0ks · 11/12/2020 23:17

@TheMagicDeckchair, no bloods tomorrow and just a home test due to Covid restrictions.

@Ultimateblends I made a massive mistake in testing early and so often. I absolutely will not do this next time. I've tortured myself. This TWW has been brutal.

I think I've known in my heart that it hasn't quite worked this time. But will test in the morning just to make sure!

BFN this morning.

@Springb0ks sorry to hear that 😞

Undervaluedandsad · 12/12/2020 06:38

Sorry

Daffodil21 · 12/12/2020 07:13

@Springb0ks I'm so very sorry to read this, I was so hopeful for you. Will you go for another round of ivf? Ignore the question if too much x

TheMagicDeckchair · 12/12/2020 08:24

Sorry to hear that @Springb0ks, look after yourself.

I could see a faint line on your photo so I wonder if that was a chemical?

Ultimateblends · 12/12/2020 09:51

Ohh @Springb0ks, sending you big hugs.
I honestly know how this feels.

The round that failed me, I stared testing about 4 days after ET. I tested the trigger out, then got the fainest lines. My DP couldn't see them (but his eyesight is poor)

I had all these tests piling up in a sad little bag in the kitchen, I would go crazy looking at them in different lights, writing down what CD is was etc.
I watched them get lighter and lighter and then the bleeding started, I was absolutely crushed.
I remember throwing them all in the bin and feeling so betrayed by them.

TWW is absolutely brutal, I totally understand and sympathise with where you are coming from, I won't put myself through that again, next round I shall absolutely wait until OTD and try and not obsess until I reach that day, then you get one final answer not several "is it/isn't it" answers.

I want to say something supportive, but I don't know what that is, so I'll just say I'm so sorry it hasn't worked, and please take sometime out for you now. X x

Springb0ks · 12/12/2020 12:37

Thank you all for your supportive comments. I keep coming back to them and reading them and they've given me some comfort today.
@Daffodil21 we will absolutely go again. After four years of unexplained infertility we were lucky to get a BFP the first time round with out first child. I (stupidly) thought it would work this time round straight away.

@Ultimateblends, you articulate how I feel so well! Wishing you every success for your next cycle and thank you for your kind words.

Ultimateblends · 12/12/2020 15:39

@Springb0ks aw, thanks, to he honest I always read my posts and think I sound really silly compared to many MN'ers. Im glad you could feel less alone by reading. Sometimes I write a reply, and delete, wondering if there's really any point. So it's kind of you to comment.

I also had a live birth first ivf in 2014. My DC who I share 50/50 with my ex H, when I did my failed cycle with my new partner in jan 2019, the shock of it not working floored me also. You know you shouldn't take it for granted that ivf worked before, so it will again, but there's something about actually having it fail which hits you like a tonne of bricks. I know exactly where you are.

Its taken me another 2 years to feel ready to try again! X
