Thin faint positive line? or false positive?

Hi Everyone,

My partner and I have been trying for 8 months now. Yesterday morning I took a clear blue pregnancy test on CD25. My cycle is usually 27/28 days.

When i first took the test it was negative, i waited 5 mins and it was still negative so i put it to one side. Then in the afternoon i looked at it again and saw a thin faint blue positive line. So I took another test i had which was just a cheap one and we can't work out if it looks like it has a faint positive line on that test too?

Has anyone had this before and can anyone shed any light on if these tests look like positives? Don't want to get excited yet but finding it hard not too.

I would say your cheapie test looks positive. The clearblue is also positive but as you've looked at it so far outside of the timeframe you can't go by that. If I were you I would get another test - an FRER is likely to give you a good clear line with the positive you have on the ic - and then you'll know for sure. Fingers crossed for you, it's looking good, but I would want to test again.

I would say yes looks positive to me I use the exact same tests and mine look like that and I'm now 10 weeks! Maybe try again in a couple day xx

Ok thank you both :) I will test again tomorrow morning i think, which should roughly be another 48 hours from when i took these tests. Fingers crossed!

Try a FREF. You should get a definite line with a line on the cheapie. Exciting!!

CC90 · 09/12/2020 13:33

Just ordered FREF which will arrive tomorrow! Thanks for the tips :)

U can trust a clear blue if a BLUE second line appears after the time frame. A blue second line will only show if hcg is present. Or in a rare occasion a dodgy fake test.

I took a clear blue and the test look negative so like u I put it to the side or rather in the bin after waiting ten minutes to check it over. Hours later when cleaning out the bins I had another look and low and behold there was a second thin blue line. I am now nearly 25 weeks pregnant:) good luck x

I'm in a similar position so watching with interest and fingers crossed for you x

Congratualtions @2020wish! This has given me hope :)

@anditgoeson Good luck.. Keep me posted! Hopefully we end the year on a high!

Definitely positives congrats x

boymum88 · 09/12/2020 19:38

The cheap one looks positive I wouldn't trust the cb as was outside time frame x

Crazymummyto4 · 09/12/2020 23:39

As the others have said, I wouldn't trust the CB as it was read out of the time but the cheapie one looks like how mine started out and I have a healthy 12 week old baby asleep next to me right now!

Crazymummyto4 · 09/12/2020 23:42

This is what my first tests looked like, it took longer for the line to get stronger on the cheapie for me but as you can see it's similar to what yours looked like. I would have been 12dpo when I took these

Thank you for all your replies. I just did a clear blue rapid response this morning and it’s come up with a faint line within 2 mins.

Can’t quite believe it. It looks like a positive right? In shock.

I still feel like I want to wait until my period is due to believe it!

boymum88 · 10/12/2020 08:13

Congratulations that's a positive

outback81 · 10/12/2020 08:26

That's a strong line congratulations 🥳

CC90 · 10/12/2020 08:29

Thank you! Can’t believe it after 8 months.

For anyone who is interested the only thing we did different this month was that we used pre seed lube as I never had fertile CM which I was recently told that could be due to having LLEETZ procedure (removal of bad cells) about 4 years ago and also I realised I had a tilted cervix so we changed our BD position.

I’m going to wait a few more days before calling my GP, but I’ll keep you posted if it actually is a positive (still can’t believe it!)

Good luck everyone! X
