Short Luteal Phase

Hello! Just looking for a bit of advice after googling far too much! After tracking my ovulation last couple of cycles I have found that I ovulate CD20/21 and my cycle is pretty reliable at 30/31 days. So I think that would mean my luteal phase is 9/10 days. I've been reading that the norm is 12-14 and then seen a lot of info about how short luteal phases below 10 can cause problems. We haven't started TTC yet we're planning to next cycle so I know I'm already over thinking things but just wondered if there were many people with a shorter luteal phase, if there was anything people could advice or if maybe it isn't as much of a problem as google makes out!

Hi @Aozora13 I have heard cycles get shorter as you get older. I’m 29 and had been on the pill since I was 15 so didn’t really have any idea of what my cycles were like, it’s all completely new to me!
I’ve seen on here that loads of medical professionals think that a short LP isn’t an issue and just generally isn’t a thing/shouldn’t stop you conceiving, and to be fair I’ve seen a lot of people on here get pregnant with a short LP. However like you say google says otherwise and other medical professionals think it IS a thing. It sounds like not enough research has gone into it in my opinion!

@CharityRoyall it was useful in that it told me my progesterone levels were normal and therefore could confirm when I ovulate I'm producing viable eggs. I think google is the worst! It got me so worried about a short LP but like you say I think it's just because nobody really knows how much is affects fertility. I'm currently trying to worry less!

I suffered short luteal phase (5 days) for 2.5 years. Tests showed that my prolactin levels were too high. I was placed on cabergoline which immediately corrected my luteal phase to 12 days. I'm currently 7 months pregnant with my first.

Hey! I came off the pill in August, 25 day cycles with a 10/11 day luteal phase. I was worried about my luteal length but I got my bfp today xx
