How reliable are the Sainsbury's pregnancy tests

I tested this morning on a sainsbury's pregnancy test - BFN.

However I picked up the test at lunchtime to throw it away and... faint but unmistakable line.

The instructions do say not to read the result after ten minutes but I am besides myself with hope and excitement.

I need your expertise, ladies - anyone had a faint positive on a test left there for several hours that turned out to be an actual BFP?

I'm off to Boots straight after work to get some FRER tests but should I prepare myself for disappointment tomorrow?

For context my temperature chart has been all over the place - I'm not sure I ovulated at all (still breastfeeding my 18mo). I think I'm 11DPO based on CM but this is not backed up by BBT. I'm on day 26 of a pretty regular 28-30 day cycle.

Experience gratefully received.

Sorry I’ve had the same thing with a sainsburys test. They are notorious for false positives.

Nightmanagerfan · 30/11/2020 14:37

Yes I’ve heard that they have a high false positive rate but in my last pregnancy I got a positive on one (not straight away), and now have a toddler DS. Get another test and see

Hiya, I’m currently 9+4. When I got my BFP I did a Sainsburys pregnancy test and a clear blue. The clear blue was positive and said ‘pregnant’ and the Sainsburys was negative. Read the packet and it does say to use fmu which I didn’t. Tested again next day and was a v v faint positive. Did a clear blue digital and got 1-2 weeks. If you’re in doubt I’d recommend getting a clear blue digital so there’s no guessing if it is / isn’t a line. Fingers crossed for you xx

I've had false positives on these tests i wouldn't trust them.

Terrible teasers, Sainsbury’s tests! It’s been years since I’ve tested, but I remember how many false positives I got and what an emotional roller coaster it was. In all of these years, you think they’d have improved.
You just have to give them the swerve and stick with First Response. 🤞 Good luck!

I had a negative Sainsbury's test, l left it on the back of the toilet because I'm a lazy bugger. When I went back an hour late there was a faint line. I retested a week later and the line appeared straight away. DS is now 5.

Well the FRER came back negative :(
Thank you all for your experiences and feedback, it helped not to get my hopes too high up

I came off mini pill 13th September. DTD unprotected 19th September. Haven't had a bleed what so ever 21 days later. Thought I would get a withdraw bleed but haven't. Done 3 pregnancy tests and all came back with a bfn. This waiting game is killing me. I'm waiting for a bfp or af to make an appearance as it's stressing me out not knowing what is happening with My body. Any advice please?
