How can I be 3 weeks pregnant when I only ovulated 2 weeks ago

Does anyone understand how due dates are calculated? I know I ovulated 2 weeks ago as as I got a static smilie on clear blue opk. I've now done a cb digital which says 1-2 weeks pregnant, which by my calculations would be right. However, when I put my LMP date into the nhs calculator, it says I'm 3 weeks pregnant. Other websites say 3 weeks and 6 days🤔

Dates are calculated from the LMP so in effect the first two weeks are "pre conception".

Congratulations!

Clearblue weeks pregnant is from the level of hcg in blood, so measures the amount of pregnancy hormone from the date of conception/implantation not the the lmp. add two weeks to that and it should roughly be the same but.

You have to wait until you 12 week scan to find out exactly!

Thank you. Omg 12 weeks is ages away! 😂

Due date is calculated on last menstruated cycle.

So on the date of your missed period, you are four weeks pregnant. The cb pregnancy tests calculate from when your baby implants, so would say 1-2 weeks at your missed period.

I will say though, I got a smiley face on ovulation sticks and then got a positive pregnancy test 5 days later. I had an early scan at 5 weeks and they said that I was almost 6 weeks and that I must of ovulated around 5 days earlier than I thought. It makes sense though as it took 10 months to get pregnant, I was dtd in the fertile window only and on this particular month I’d had enough and dtd every other day from last day of cycle until a week after ovulation and was pregnant. Very strange.

@cherrypiepie is correct.

People are only pregnant for 38 weeks, the first 2 weeks of your pregnancy you aren't actually pregnant but that's why pregnancy is counted as 40 weeks.

CB digital dates your pregnancy from conception (ovulation date in most cases). So you have to add 2 weeks to work out how many weeks pregnant you are. You're pretty much 4 weeks pregnant at the moment.

Congratulations!

@Lucy830 - it really makes you think if we’re having sex on all the wrong days 🤣
