Period then found out pregnant?

As the title suggests, has anyone had a period and assumed they didn't conceive to then go on and find out they actually did and are pregnant?

Yes, I was also on the coil so it was more than a little surprising to discover I was pregnant.

Do you mind me asking what your period was like? Was it a full normal bleed etc?

It was over 30 years ago but I remember it was perfectly normal though my periods were always light. In fact I didn’t discover I was pregnant till I was 20 weeks so I must have had least 4 periods or light bleeds whilst pregnant.

@timetest wow that's crazy! And everything was okay and normal?

Yes all was well, I had a scan to find the location of the coil and went on to have a normal pregnancy. Anyway how are you doing?

@timetest that's so interesting! I wonder what had happened. I'm okay, ttc atm and had a period but it was 2 days early (strange for me) and I only had a day or so of full bleeding then it's tapered off fairly quickly to a really light flow so wondering if it could be anything or not. Highly unlikely I'm sure

Have you recently come off oral contraceptives? I know friends who Stopped taking rhe pill then had a few months of sketchy periods before conception.

I did with my DD, bled for 2 days, day 1 enough for a tampon (sorry for TMI!) positive test 4 days later.

@PurpleFlower1983 no way. What made you do the test if you'd bled? Did you not just assume that was that?

I'm having this problem as we speak - so period was late by 3 days did a test at 2 days late then 3 days late both faint positive - came On the day after was bleeding for 2 days and now it's suddenly stopped I did another test today and got another positive ! So I have no idea what's going on I plan on doing a digital one next to see what it says .

I can't believe it !!!

I did, doctor said must have been an implantation bleed but it was dark red and needed a pad.. I’m now 23+2 with a baby boy xxx

I’d say that’s positive

@Sophielou8 yea I'm pretty certain too just hope it's all ok and will stick ! I had a MC at 14 weeks last year so really anxious xx

Hi @PurpleFlower1983 i am going through the same at moment its my first time and my period has started 5 days earlier than expected it was normal flow i get yesterday when it started but browny res in colour and now it is lighter today or seems to be at the moment i was inpatient and took a test and negative so going to try take one in a few days time maybe x
