I can only dtd twice a week. Anyone else in the same situation? How can you increase your chances to conceive?

Conceive Plus lubricant works well. Good luck!

Ele38 · 15/11/2020 12:46

Opks worked brill for me so I knew when I was ovulating gave me 4 beautiful babies. Good luck

JennaS1992 · 15/11/2020 12:53

I bought some pressed but I keep forgetting to use it! I will have a look at the conceive plus one too

Ah that's lovely!
What OPk's did you use?

Just cheapie ones off eBay, as soon as I got a positive I DTD that day and the next 2 days and it seemed to work. Is this your first your trying for?

ContadoraExplorer · 15/11/2020 13:08

I used Ovia to track my cycle to roughly work out when I would be fertile and when it suggested I was, I used the cheap one step OPK's (from Amazon) to work out when I ovulated and then made sure we DTD at least a couple of times at that point.

20viona · 15/11/2020 14:23

Cheap OPKs twice a day and preseed got me pregnant in 6 weeks. Had sex once or twice a week.

JennaS1992 · 15/11/2020 14:31

Right I'm on it! Going to order Opk sticks and gonna get the preseed out next time Grin

I'm 28 and it's my first time ttc, I'm on cycle 2

Clear blue ovulation sticks

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 15/11/2020 14:35

OPK’s all the way. You can have sex as much as you like but if you’re doing it at the wrong time there won’t be an egg to fertilise.

I used the Clearblue advanced one as it highlights your pre-fertile days as well.

1940s · 15/11/2020 14:38

Why can you only dtd twice in one week?

LittleTiger007 · 15/11/2020 15:50

Yes same situation. I used an ovulation predictor kit. Also dtd in the morning as studies show there is a greater quantity of healthy sperm in the morning. Then I rested in bed for half an hour afterwards. We actually did it 2 days before I ovulated as sperm lasts in the uterus for up to 5 days and it can take them a fair few hours to swim to the right place to be ready for the egg to emerge.
Sorry tmi!! Anyway it worked and I’m 13 wks pregnant with non identical twins. Good luck!

LittleTiger007 · 15/11/2020 15:54

I also used the advanced ovulation predictor kit. I like this especially if you’re not having sex every day as it lets you know when you’re about to ovulate. As I said in above post you really need to get the sperm there waiting before ovulation, so clear blue advanced ovulation kit worked a treat.

JennaS1992 · 15/11/2020 17:45

Really interesting thanks!
Just had a look on the clear blue website and the digital ovulation kits look good too. I was guessing my ovulation before but will definitely invest in a some ovulation OPK's now to get a better idea.

Can only dtd as oh works away at the moment

Clear blue fertility monitor helped me conceive my 3. I'm embarrassed to admit that when I conceived my first I hadn't a clue about ovulation and cervical mucus etc. I bought the monitor secondhand from eBay with sticks from Amazon and simply read the instructions and relied on that with no real thought. Got pregnant first month with all 3. Bit harder now I'm 39. I'm reading take control of your fertility book and it's a real eye opener. I'm definitely going to educate my daughters using it when they get old enough.

Good luck!

LittleTiger007 · 16/11/2020 10:22

@JennaS1992 yes sorry I don’t add that what I used was the digital kit.

JennaS1992 · 16/11/2020 12:03

Thanks littletiger, Ordered my kit now, I'm really excited to start using it!
According to the online instructions and my cycle, it says I will need to start testing on day 9, I'm currently on day 7 so hoping it comes soon Grin
Just started taking Pregnacare last night too

Whatever
I am the same, I've learnt so much about my cycle since I've been TTC. I never paid attention to CM or things like that ha!

If you can afford it I recommend Ovusense. My husband and and I TTC for a few months using an app and sticks with no luck. We then got Ovusense and it turned out the app and sticks were both wrong. We got pregnant on the first go!

whatswithtodaytoday · 16/11/2020 12:12

OPKs here too - I have a physical problem which makes sex painful and I need time to 'recover', so wanted to time it right.

JennaS1992 · 16/11/2020 15:53

Interesting! I had a look at ovusense, looks really good and tempting!! Haha I like the idea of it being like a tampon staying inside over night, I'm bloody useless at waking up at the same time to chart BBT! Looks really worth the money thanks for sharing with me

Rachetine · 16/11/2020 19:00

I defo recommend it, I also found a discount code via google so have a dig. You use it for a month to set your ovulation date, then the next month it predicts it for you. DH and I had sex every day over the ovulation window, and boom- pregnant! Almost ridiculously easy, and would defo do it again next time as it took all the stress and guesswork out of it.

Renogirl · 16/11/2020 19:06

I’m in a similar position with DP working away in the week and sometimes not coming home every weekend depending on what work is on.

I am doing opks but it is disheartening when I get that smiley and he’s not actually here Sad

No advice for how to get around this but you’re not alone. We are on cycle 7 now and obviously I always knew it would take a bit longer with DP not always being at home at the right time but it’s getting frustrating now xx

JennaS1992 · 16/11/2020 19:38

I really feel the same Reno!
It's very frustrating! I know that the swimmers can stay in a few days but sometimes it's not long enough 'till ovulation!! The thing that's kept me going this month is that my ovulation should be on the 28th which is a weekend but we'll see when my OPK comes! I wish you luck for yourself cycle 7. Fingers crossed xx
