Private Fertility Testing

Hello all

I wish to have fertility testing done privately so that I can get some answers.

I’ve had two early losses this year and have been referred to gynaecology by my GP which could take months. Meanwhile, TTC not knowing if there is a problem seems odd as we could be putting our effort and energy into something that simply isn’t going to happen until we rectify what’s wrong (assuming something is wrong).

Equally, if nothing is wrong then we could find this out sooner as opposed to worrying for months to come and waiting for our referral and all subsequent appointments.

Has anyone got any experiences good or bad with private fertility tests x

This is the company that did mine and this is what they screen for: www.tdlpathology.com/tests/profiles/recurrent-miscarriage-profile-female/

@Foxhasbigsocks I am not sure what that is sorry? My spire offers fertility testing however it’s purely for sperm testing and ovulation however I would like to be tested for the sticky blood condition and anything else that could lead to miscarriage as I’ve had two now. I do already have a 2.5 year old so know I can carry full term

You will need a gynae to refer you and I saw one of the St Mary’s consultants privately (he did the surgical management of my mc on the Lindo Wing:

@DMT1982 it’s a blood disorder that can lead to mc. I would suggest maybe making an appointment with Mr Miskry - I can’t remember the costs but likely around £250 I would think, but was a while back so you could ask before booking.

I’m so sorry to hear about your pg loss - I did screening as I also wanted to find out, but I hadn’t had a baby yet, so Mr Miskry or another specialist you see may feel a different panel of bloods / tests is more appropriate

Foxhasbigsocks · 13/06/2021 08:54

In terms of costs do you have private health cover? Might cover some but probably not all as pg related. My total costs were 1) initial appointment with Mr Miskry 2) the bloods 3) follow up consultation so might have been £900- £1,000 all told with the appointments included xxx

@Foxhasbigsocks thanks very much for your replies and information. Unfortunately I don’t have private health care anymore (only Benenden which don’t cover fertility from what I can see)

I will have a look at the links and can see all the blood tests on the first one so that’s really helpful thank you. Xx
