I am considering both for my second cycle. What are your thoughts or experiences?

I’m literally willing to try anything at this point šŸ™„

Not sure about the acupuncture but got a warning letter from our clinic stating not to take any Chinese medicines while having treatment ? Don't know much about it though as all new to me atm

@PurpleRayne89 hi, just wondering did you try acupuncture for your ivf ? Any success? Thanks

PurpleRayne89 · 12/11/2022 15:45

@hopefullsosbry hello. I did try acupuncture. Specifically for fertility and stress. My second round of IVF was a success and I now have a 14-month old son. When I start IVF again. I will do acupuncture again. I was also taking Ubiquinol for a short time before, maybe like 4 months or so. I drank lots of water. I got 7 eggs and ended up with 2 full blasts and one semi blast.

That’s great, so happy to hear your success with ivf, I was thinking about acupuncture.. I have had 3 failed transfers .. I am also in the process of a transfer now (currently two week wait) but if this fails I have one left frozen and may start acupuncture before the transfer, how many weeks before / after transfer would you recommend getting acupuncture for ? I have heard it can help so no harm in trying ? Thanks for replying šŸ™‚xx

fingers crossed for you!!! It will definitely happen for you. Try to stay relaxed and positive. I didn’t tell anyone when I was cycling, my partner and I kept it between us. That way, I was under less pressure. I don’t think it matters when you start. I started mine in November and got a positive in December. Drink loads of water as well. Always is a plus.

if you don’t mind me asking, why are you doing IVF? I have low AMH, I’m 33 now. Normal bmi..

IVF is very expensive so that’s an additional stress I felt. I got 3 cycles for Ā£7000. That’s all inclusive and no hidden costs. Fantastic facilities. I could contact my doctor any day or time. I meant midnight on a Sunday and he was perfectly fine with it. I think this continuity really helped.

Where are you based? I am in London. I could forward the details onto you if you like.

Can only speak from my own experience I tried accupuncture found it ok but didn’t feel it did a huge amount but I am also terrified of needles so that obviously doesn’t help. I did give Chinese medicine a go for a few weeks and I had to stop taking the tablets as they made me feel a little weird! Took a month or two for my cycle to go back to normal after. I would say acupuncture is a safe bet but Chinese medicine can affect your cycle so I guess you need to be 100% sure on it. Could maybe try Chinese medicine after your IVF if you don’t get success?

@PurpleRayne89 Thanks for sharing, we are unexplained infertility.. I had my daughter when I was 19 no issues, I am now 39 with different partner, he has no kids ,everything seems to be ok with me from all the checks /test /scans etc .. my partner has slightly low sperm morphology, all our initial 1- eggs from egg retrieval were fertilised though as they thought we might have needed ICSI , 5 made it to blast , we’ve had 3 so far but all neg .. one was miscarriage at 4weeks and 4 days .. we had two nartural miscarriages also in the two years prior to ivf when we were trying naturally… thanks for advise @Massi2022 thanks for sharing , did acupuncture work for you ? Was your ivf successful ? .if this fails I think I will try it with the last transfer .. we have not been telling anyone either when we have our transfers as as you say it’s less pressure from friends and family xx

hopefullsosbry · 12/11/2022 17:21

@PurpleRayne89 i live in Scotland , we are currently with a clinic but will change clinics if the last two fail and do another cycle .. xx

hopefullsosbry · 12/11/2022 17:22

That’s very kind of you to forward details but I think London may be a bit far for us to travel , thanks so much though 🄰

Massi2022 · 12/11/2022 20:39

@hopefullsosbry we didn’t end up doing ivf as got my bfp the day the letter came in after 2 years of trying. No idea what was different that month. Honestly I’m not sure if acupuncture did anything for me but I have heard good things from others so if it relaxes you then it can only help xx

PurpleRayne89 · 12/11/2022 21:10

@hopefullsosbry ahh not a problem at all. Changing clinics is always a good thing as someone will look at your case with fresh eyes. As you can see with the acupuncture, it can vary from person to person. I think some positive affirmations are always good. ā€œI will be a motherā€, ā€œI will be pregnantā€, ā€œthis cycle is going to be successfulā€. Just put it out there and it will happen. You will then use the same approach when you are pregnancy and preparing for your birth. You will honestly look back and think, why did I fixate so much. I googled things so much, it was a bit obsessive. I guess it’s normal when you’re trying to be in control if a situation just behind it. I do wish you the best ā˜ŗļø I know what it feels like, honestly I do and I hope this cycle is a success. šŸ¤ž
