OPK peak??

Bouncytree · 20/10/2020 12:20

I can’t tell if I have peaked and missed it, or if I am yet to peak.

I was at 40% high one evening...but then back to low levels and fluctuating slightly since then. Back to 0% now. See picture

Could I have peaked overnight and missed it? Is that even possible? Are my LH levels just fluctuating as they go down? if I’m now at 0% does that mean The peak has passed?

Last few cycles testing I got very clear peaks 100-200%. So I am very confused by all this! We have been DTD every two days in case 😅😅😅

Can anyone shed on light on what might be happening? So confused 🤪

Bouncytree · 17/11/2020 19:36

@jessi60 lol well you are well covered by the sounds of it. Your fertile period is when you have A change in cervical mucous which makes your vagina hospitable to sperm in preparation for ovulation. It means they can hang out in there waiting for the egg...they can live up to 7 days. Remember your app is an approximate date based on your last few months ovulation. Watch for your CM to increase significantly and you should know it’s on the way!

Still waiting here. First OPK today and still low. Waiting till CD 12 to start DTD this month and gonna do every second day. I can’t handle anymore DTD after last month 😅🤣

Hope you don't mind me jumping on! First month properly using OPK's

I am wondering if I'm having a "plateau" type peak (as per the pre mom link someone sent earlier in the thread). The line has been gradually darker and i was expecting it to build up to a positive this evening, surprisingly it is the faintest its been for days.

Any help/experience would be appreciated! X

Bouncytree · 17/11/2020 21:11

Hi @Pollyell it doesn’t look to me like you have peaked yet. The line needs to get as dark or darker than the control line.

OP posts:
Bouncytree · 17/11/2020 21:16

@Pollyell sorry didn’t meSn to hit post there!

The line can get a bit darker and a bit lighter, it doesn’t always keep going up.

But what you are looking for is a good strong dark Line.

I notice you are on CD 20...how long is your cycle?

Also have you been watching for Cervical mucous? It’s also good to keep an eye out for that as it can tell you when things are on the way, so your not working in the dark

Pollyell · 17/11/2020 22:29

Thanks for having a look at them @bouncytree. Annoyingly am only 3 months post implant removal and have only had one natural period so not sure how long cycles are going to be!

I definitely haven't had any tests that have been darker than control line but one on day 20 seemed very close. Will take some more tests tomorrow

My cm is quite stringy which it wasn't a few days ago, but not producing very much.

The joys!!xx

Rachel93x · 18/11/2020 12:28

@Char899 eek!! I'm glad to see that an IC has picked it up! How are you feeling within yourself? So excited for you!

@Bouncytree @jessi60 hope you too are both okay? Of course, here I am CD 12... doing ovulation tests hahah! I've decided to follow the SMEP, although I've tried to DTD around ovulation, I feel maybe I've overdone it and maybe the sperm quality isn't so great. I do feel ALOT more relaxed this months and starting to think, what will be will be... Christmas soon so if it doesn't happen, At least we can all have a Christmas drink with our families (if we can see them all of course!)

@Pollyell hiya! Have you tried the Premom app? It's pretty good with keeping them all together! I said I wasn't going to track OPK this month, but decided to do the officia SMEP plan so thought I'll track! I've just tried to be a lot more relaxed with it! I have 35 day cycles so normally ovulate day CD 21/22 so maybe expect your peak in the next couple of days? FX for you! Xx

jessi60 · 18/11/2020 12:37

@jessi60 Hey I’m okay thank you. Was in abit of a mood yesterday with everything, being an absolute drama queen when in reality this is my first month of trying after my first period. Still doing daily OPK testing but still reading low 😔 my app has me down as peak fertility and to ovulate tomorrow but it isn’t reflected in the testing. Also not had any CM either so don’t know what’s going on 🤷🏻‍♀️🥺 being trying to do dtd every other day but it’s doing my head in having to do it at a planned time. But don’t know whether it’s pointless dtd this early if my ovulation tests are low or just waiting until they peak abit more. X

jessi60 · 18/11/2020 12:39

@Bouncytree Yeah don’t think my app will be the most accurate because it’s my first cycle after my first period. X

Rachel93x · 18/11/2020 13:07

@jessi60 sorry to hear you're having a hard time with it, I think we always beat ourselves up so much with it! I get myself in a huff sometimes about it, then have to remember it's only month 3/4 of trying and healthy couples can take up to a year!

It's really hard to give advice when I know how fed up you're feeling; we're all good at giving it but we don't even listen to our own advice 😭

Maybe try to concentrate on getting the cycle back to normal after coming off the pill before thinking of ovulation for TTC, whilst trying to DTD every other day if possible but try not to stress yourself out! Although, I FULLY know it's not just they easy! If you dont ovulate by CD23, then I'd start to be concerned but maybe you'll have 35 day cycles instead of 28 days? Just means you'll ovulate CD21ish - give it take a day!

In CD 12 today, I'm just going to do 1 a day hope to see the peak by CD21!

Hoping you soon see the peak on the OPK 🥰

jessi60 · 18/11/2020 13:19

@Rachel93x Thanks so much. I appreciate it. I’m on another thread aswell and a couple are pregnant and it’s so lovely and then every single other person has blazing positive ovulation tests and it’s just hard to read. You can’t help but compare yourself to others😔 feel like the odd one out just plodding along😂
My job doesn’t help I work day and night shifts- 13 hour shifts. So I leave the house at 6am and don’t get back until half 9 at night sometimes later and the last thing I want to do is have sex sometimes😂 what a bloody first world problem to have ey. Never mind. I’ve ordered some different test strips because someone commented and said they didn’t look very clear\blurry so some more will get delivered tomorrow. I think I’ll carry on doing them to get an idea of things.
Like you say, it doesn’t happen Atleast I can have a drink over Xmas 🤪 X

Char899 · 18/11/2020 15:07

@Rachel93x thank you! I got a positive on a digital last night so feels really real now. I’m really nauseous the last couple of days so that’s not fun but otherwise all good! How are you getting on?

I was planning on following smep too but as you know I missed the lead up due to my late ovulation! I ended up DTD on the day of my peak, the day after (day of ovulation I assume) and the morning after! Not going to lie was a little sore after that 😂 but hey! It worked!

Bouncytree · 19/11/2020 08:20

@Pollyell how did you get on?

@jessi60 it’s hard not to stress about it all isn’t it. And I always feel so impatient too, like can it happen now! Remember you don’t have to find your peak to get PG. just DTD regularly and you will hit it. If your cycles haven’t settled yet, you could try every 3 days over a couple of weeks. It means there will always be sperm waiting for the egg. It gives a good bandwidth so you are covered but not too demanding so you can sustain it over a couple of weeks. I got PG on my son DTD every 3 days. I know it’s hard but try to give it a bit if time. Your cycle will settle and that will be more comfortable for you, but until then try to go easy on yourself. As long as you are doing the DTD you are completely covered. Sometimes I think we treat seeing the peak as a ‘positive’ so if we feel we need to see it or it hasn’t happened. I am the worst at being patient myself, but we can try to be kind to ourselves. The night shifts sounds hard too.

@Rachel93x fair play for trying the SMEP you will definitely be covered! I can’t even handle every 2/3 days 😅🤣 any ovulation yet?

@Char899 hope you are enjoying your early pregnancy buzz. Lol feeling nauseous is hard going, but at the same time it used to make me feel happy too cos it makes you know this is it! Funny isn’t it

CD 12 here, CM yesterday DTD tonight and every 2 days till I find the peak. Still quite low LH. And I will be keeping an eye out for sneaky late ovulation, tricked me last month!

OP posts:
Pollyell · 19/11/2020 11:24

@bouncytree thank you for asking. I got premom app as advised by @rachel93x (thanks! I'm doing SMEP too btw). I plugged my tests in retrospectively and it thinks my peak was day 20. Which makes sense as I had a gripping tight pelvic pain yesterday evening. Think I'll still DTD a few times if DP isn't too exhausted!!

gln1989 · 19/11/2020 11:33

Ladies, I need your help.

I have been TTC and I decided to start testing early this month in case I missed it last month (i only started to test when "flo" app said it was my fertile window last month) . Strangest thing happened, finished my period on Saturday and tested from Monday

Monday I got a solid circle on Clearblue ovulation meaning I wasn't in my fertile window
Tuesday, Wednesday and today I got a flashing smiley face meaning I'm in my fertile window a week early??! I'm scared to take a pregnancy test in case I get a BFN result again. Has anyone experienced this?

I just don't know what is going on and if i am going to peak early as today is only CD10 - I have ordered some different ovulation test from amazon called Femometer which has 50 LH test strips and 20 HCG test strips so i will see what they come back with compared to the clearblue results.

jessi60 · 19/11/2020 11:41

@gln1989 how many days are your cycle? You can get the flashing smiley for like 5 days in some cases and then onto a solid which might mean you ovulate on CD 14 or 15 which isn’t too early? X

jessi60 · 19/11/2020 11:43

@Bouncytree Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. You’ve made me feel better. Think I’m being too harsh on myself and just need to relax a little. We dtd last night, although don’t think any of particularly were feeling up for it. Going to to leave it a couple of days now and maybe resume at the weekend. Xx🥰🥰

gln1989 · 19/11/2020 12:18

I am currently on cycle day 10! My cycles are normally 32 days but my period was 3 days early last time meaning it was only 29 days not 32?

My period wasn't as it normally is either. We have decided to just enjoy the trying but i was so confused when I had a flashing smiley face on cd8.

I have also heard that the deed should be done on the day of ovulation and to avoid the day before and after................? So confusing!

x

Char899 · 19/11/2020 12:31

@gln1989 I DTD the day before ovulation, the day of ovulation and the day after and I got my bfp at the weekend so I wouldn’t listen to that advice personally!

gln1989 · 19/11/2020 12:40

AMAZING. Congratulations @Char899

This is going to be our month, I am feeling positive and trying not to get obsessed. My next period is due 11th December and i have promised myself not to test early and be disappointed again i am just going to see what happens on and around that date.

Bouncytree · 19/11/2020 20:50

@gln1989 totally possible and normal to ovulate early abs at different times each month. Fertile period can last 4/5 days so still a few days to go so keep testing and DTD.

@jessi60 we are all very hard in ourselves. We just really want it to happen. Glad your feeling a bit better.

@Char899 I had somehow missed you earlier message. Yes the first wee while can be a bit nervy alright, but you will be ok. When we’re you due AF? You should be able to test and get lines on digital by then. And yes the time off thinking about TTC did indeed do me good!

So CD 12 here, being a bit more relaxed about the testing this month, hasn’t even DTD yet and then bam 💥 blazing positive OPH this evening 2 days early! Luckily was just about to DTD. At least it will be a light baby dance month 😅

The knicker checking begins!

@Rachel93x how is SMEP going?

OP posts:
gln1989 · 20/11/2020 08:11

Day 5 of a smiley flashing face on the clearblue advance. We have quite an active sex life so DTD isnt a problem but a 5th day???? Let's see what the next couple of days bring.

My husband is so excited weve been together over a decade and travelled the world, hence only just trying now teenage sweethearts so this is a very exciting step for us.

Do you thinking sticking to every other day to DTD is too much? I'm almost at the stage of stopping the testing and just seeing what happens.

Bouncytree · 20/11/2020 18:44

Hi @gln1989 it’s recommended you do it every 2/3 days to conceive.

Flashing smiley means your fertile, But static smiley means ovulation is just about to happen, so you should concentrate your ‘efforts’ around then.

Best chances of conception are the day before ovulation And the day of ovulation.

If you are finding it a bit much you can space it out a little. I find it’s better to pace yourself in the fertile window...and that makes sure you have some motivation left when u get to your peak/static smiley and very close to ovulation.

Lovely to hear your story 😊

How is everyone doing?
Pretty sure I’ve ovulated yesterday CD13 this month, DTD Once more last nigHt for luck, and now officially in the TWW. It begins, with all the promises to self to be calm and don’t symptom spot 🤪😅

I'm doing good thank you! Miss 'I'm not tracking this month' lasted long but I've definitely calmed it down this month just doing 1 a day.. I'm pretty sure it will be CD21 for me and ovulating this month!

Omg it feels like that TWW has come round so fast! Fingers crossed this is your month for you BFP 🤞🏻
