Hiya @jessi60 - don't feel silly posting on here, we're all new at some point and most importantly going through the same situation!
@Bouncytree has explained the ovulation sticks perfectly so I can't offer much more help on that!?
Although, I was on the pill until November last year! I didn't come off the pill ready to try for a baby, it was just not working and randomly started to bleed after 3 years on it. so decided to have a break, we then bought a house, decided now is the best time and never went back for more!
I had it written in my notes as I was stressing about the random bleeds so I'll copy what I had written down;
Sunday 24th November came off pill
Period 27th November until 1st December
Period then arrived 3rd January until 8th January and then up until I was due in May, it was a regular 35 day cycle!
April came, I didn't have a period until the very end of June but lockdown and buying the house is what my dr put it down to, because of stress! I then bought conceive plus ovulation support and we decided to try from August period! My cycle returned back to the 35 days and my ovulation day 2 out of the 3 months we've been trying has been cycle day 21! 1 month was CD14 🤪 (normal for 28 day cycles!)
Don't feel disheartened if it take a few months for your body to adjust and get back into control! Just after your period (if you don't get lucky the first month) do 1 or 2 ovulation tests and then when it because darker, do 3 tests a day then once you see 'peak' or even just the test line darker than the control line you'll likely ovulate 12-48 hours after the positive! I then just do 1 test a day to check its stays down and didn't fail to ovulate - I know BBT is the only official way (I think?) to confirm ovulation but I've only just got my head around this darn sticks and the pre mom app! Basically just DTD every day you see the darker lines and and if possible, every other day from period end to ovulation!
Sorry for the essay and probably confusing the situation more, I just didn't want to ignore you and just let you know it will take time and it's TOTALLY normal xx
