Has anybody bought anything baby related whilst TTC?

So basically last night i made a stupid purchase of a personalised baby grow 🙈 i dont know why something in me just drove me to go on ebay and purchase it lol. It might sound silly but i just wanted something small to have. Has anybody else done this?

Oof, no. I feel like it's bad luck assuming it will happen 😬

Sparrow91 · 19/10/2020 21:32

I have 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have three babygros - 2 I brought on the first day I stopped my pill as a sort of memento, and 1 I brought because it was on sale but I thought it would be a nice babygro to bring a baby home in :)

It’s something that I’ve hidden away now until I get a BFP but it makes me smile every time I think of them. You do you at the end of the day 😁

I have no reason to think it wont happen lol but just had a strong urge to buy it, i dont even know why 🤣🤣

It's excitement - good luck! You'll have plenty of time to spend your money though

PurpleDaisies · 19/10/2020 21:50

Yes, and getting rid of it when it didn’t happen was awful. I wouldn’t recommend it.

xoxochellexoxo · 19/10/2020 21:53

Im not planning on buying anything else i just wanted to know if anybody else had a sudden urge to buy something small

Definitely not. What if it doesnt work out? It would be so heartbreaking to have baby things around but no baby :(

Edel2019 · 19/10/2020 21:58

I think it's absolutely lovely you bought something. It shows how excited you are 🥰

Sansa87 · 19/10/2020 22:05

I was going to say no, that I couldn’t jinx it.

Then I remembered I bought newborn socks the day I had my last cigarette to help me stay off smoking. They’re in my bedside drawer now, & I’m 11+4 today

xoxochellexoxo · 19/10/2020 22:09

@Sansa87 awwww congratulations thats lovely news 🥰 i know deep down it was a stupid purchase but it made me happy so who cares lol

I've done it while a close relative was TTC and knitted stuff so was gutted when it didn't happen.

MrsB2019x · 19/10/2020 22:24

Yeah - I have bought one babygro (in 2 different sizes, before we started actively trying 🙈). It is a Disney one and it’s mine and DH’s favourite film, I just couldn’t resist it. We had an ectopic earlier in the year and I came across them when we moved house, so that was hard to swallow. I won’t buy anymore for that reason!

EL8888 · 19/10/2020 22:26

No. Probably for the best as 2.5 years on we have got nowhere

LS2020 · 20/10/2020 06:37

@xoxochellexoxo I’ve gotten a few things I’ve seen in my TTC time, on sale or something special to us. We’ve been going 18 months and I wouldn’t regret it even if we weren’t successful as if anything, it gives me hope each month that I will bring my baby home in it and to keep going. If at any point it doesn’t make you feel that way and only sad, I would get rid off but don’t worry on money side - how often do you buy OPKs to literally pee them away 😂

Pickypolly · 20/10/2020 06:47

No.
I had many many miscarriages and long periods of infertility.
To me it would always have been the thing I bought for the first baby that I lost.
Nothing but pain & a devastating reminder for me.

MaidenMotherCrone · 20/10/2020 06:50

Yes I bought/made a whole load of lovely things. It took 12 months with my first.

Aw, congratulations, what a lovely update. I bought and stashed a beautiful shawl before we were even trying. We were fully kitted out and baby ready by about five months so clearly no superstitions here!
