Did anyone know you were pregnant before you did?

I’ve been trying to conceive for 3 months. I got my nails done and the nail lady said she had a strong feeling I’m pregnant (I didn’t tell her we had been trying)
She said she’d guessed her daughter was before she knew herself, and a few friends. I said I don’t think so and she said let me know next time!
Has this happened to anyone else??

No, but I knew my stepdaughter was pregnant before she did.

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 18/10/2020 20:46

The lollypop lady at the dcs school guessed when I was about 7 weeks along. She said my walk was different.

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 20:46

@WitsEnding how? I was a bit freaked out as I had a no hint I was trying. My wedding was cancelled due to covid so I said we had put it off x

MILs cat...

Your scent changes...

Boringnamechanging · 18/10/2020 20:47

My morning coffee knew before me. I vomit at the smell of coffee before I've missed my period. Every time.

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 20:47

@TheBabyAteMyBrain did you know yourself by that point?

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 20:48

@Boringnamechanging I had a Costa this morning and I’ve felt so sick all day since having it.. I haven’t been able to eat for the rest of the day. I guessed it was as I had it on an empty stomach.

@RandomMess what did the cat do? x

RandomMess · 18/10/2020 20:49

Sat on me and wanted affection.

She usually only had eyes for MIL!

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 20:51

@RandomMess isn’t that strange! I haven’t seen my cat once today so maybe my nail lady is talking rubbish haha x

My friend told me l was. I was unusually wanting to eat salad and broccoli at lunchtime. I wasn't trying. She was right. That was 26 years ago..first born all grown up now.

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 20:54

@teenagetantrums is it the fact you were eating salad that your friend thought you were? I’m worrying she just thought I was pregnant as I’ve put lockdown weight on and she was just trying to backtrack! Haha x

My 2 year old did. She suddenly started talking to me about having a baby in my tummy. At first I thought it was because a friend of ours was pregnant and she’d got the idea in her head but she was insistent and she was right. Even after we had it confirmed, we didn’t discuss it in front of her and yet she talked about it every day. Sadly it didn’t end well, and that was a hard conversation.

Mishmased · 18/10/2020 20:57

My friend rang me a few weeks back to tell me about her weird dream in which I was telling her I was obviously pregnant. Told her ehh I don't think so and conversation moved on. I was due my period the next day so later that night I thought I'd check just for fun and I was pregnant.
Only told her about it yesterday and she nearly wet herself with excitement that she knew it first 🤣

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/10/2020 21:00

Our dog, he has always been cuddley but never a sit on your lap kind of cuddle dog.
He started laying across my legs resting his head on my stomach.

DH had his suspicions too but wasn't sure what had changed.

Yogawithmydog · 18/10/2020 21:01

My reflexologist did. She asked a couple of odd questions at a monthly appt (before I knew) and when I returned the following month and told her my news, she smiled and showed me her notes from the last appt - highly likely pregnancy. She could tell from a change in certain points on the feet related to the relevant areas. Amazing.

Begonias · 18/10/2020 21:02

My mum guessed I was pregnant when we walked past Costa and the smell made me want to throw up( I love coffee when not pregnant) 1 week later a positive pregnancy test.

My mil, she just looks at you and can tell from your face. Apparently they eyes and pale skin give it away. She's always been right.

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 21:03

@greytminds I’m sorry to hear that. I think children do have some kind of psychic ability that we lose as adults x

I’m loving all these stories! Isn’t it strange! I’m about 10 days off my period so I very much doubt she would be able to tell but I’ll know in a couple of weeks haha

My stepdad did. I was only 19 and had slept through most of Christmas Day and didn't want anything to eat and or drink. He gently asked my mum to ask if I thought I might be pregnant. Turned out I was!

Legoandloldolls · 18/10/2020 21:12

My husbands cousin knew twice before I told him. I was between 6-10 weeks so not told anyone. Most strange really. Dh swears blind he didnt tell him.

Allthepenguins · 18/10/2020 21:12

@cricketmum84 wow! How far alone were you?

My best friend, we went to a restaurant and I was complaining saying it smelt.
We walked outside and she said 'are you pregnant?!' (Wasnt even aware we was 'trying' it was still only the first month we were extremely lucky) ...went and brought a test that night and was pregnant. 3wks6days!!

greytminds · 18/10/2020 21:15

@Allthepenguins I think you’re right. I got to 16 weeks this time, and we knew we were having a boy. After we found out he had died, I spent a lot of time thinking about whether we should name him and what to pick. I’d settled on Luca in my head, but I hadn’t discussed this with anyone even with DH. Yet when I talked about what had happened to our 2 year old, she referred to him as her baby brother Luca. How do they know?!

SpeedofaSloth · 18/10/2020 21:15

Yes, I knew every time, bizarrely.
