TTC: V. Short period (implantation bleeding or period?)

Hi guys,

I am TTC with my husband and this is the first month my period has been slightly 'different.'

My periods are quite regular, cycle around 28-29 days each month and last 5-6 days.

This month, I was due on and for the first two days I had pink spotting and thought I could be pregnant. However, AF came 'day3' into my expected period according to my app which is not normal, was very heavy day 1, day two very light and day 3 no blood at all.

I have no other symptoms except 'weird' cramps, not my normal pain more of a dull ache.

Would you recommend taking a test just to rule it out? The blood on day 1 was very heavy (and included 1 clot) so I suspect for some reason my period is just very short this month, but as i'm normally quite regular I thought you guys might be best!

Thanks!

Following with interest I had a similar experience..AF day 1 was spotting, day 2 was normalish but light with a clot day 3 & 4 spotting and then stopped...not normal for me.

Ive been feeling nauseous, had mild cramps ever since & am really burpy but i think i may be having some side effects from folic acid.

Had 2 BFN but both before the bleeding/spotting had stopped, not sure whether to test again or if it is a waste of a test.

@2020TTC if in doubt you should probably test or it's going to be constantly on your mind. You could test with an IC, that way if its negative you haven't lost much. As you're past your period due date, if you are pregnant, there should be enough of the hormone to be picked up on an IC.

Definitely test, the only way to put your mind to rest one way or another.

I had what I assumed was the start of my period as there was quite a lot of blood. Put a tampon in & thought no more of it, in fact I went out & had lots of wine. It was only when I removed the tampon the next morning & it hardly had a trace on it that I questioned if something else was going on. Sure enough I was pregnant Smile

Have you recently come off birth control? Definitely test to put your mind at rest. Since coming off the pill I’ve had really strange periods. Very light and barely any cramps.

Thanks all, i’ll see what tomorrow brings, (tmi) but I had a tiny bit of blood on the tissue today so thinking maybe I just went 24hrs with nothing? I may do a test tomorrow if i’m still ‘off’

Not recently come off BC but had similar symptoms when I did a few years ago!

@Jsh125 It’s good to know you can think you’re on (i know implantation bleeding but heavier potentially) and now you are pregnant or have a little on - how lovely!

@2020TTC definitely a possibility, I absolutely assumed it was a period initially but my little girl is now 1 Smile. Fingers crossed you get the result you're hoping for.
