Chemical pregnancy bleed/stronger BFP help?!

Hi ladies,

Could I have some thoughts on this please? I’m now 13dpo and got a BFP yesterday at 12dpo. Today I had some light spotting, nothing in my pants just when I wiped, pinkish peach coloured at first and then a brownish colour. I’ve got home from work and taken another test and it seems like a stronger BFP. (See pic of yesterday afternoon vs this afternoon)

I was hoping that it might be an implantation bleed as it doesn’t seem to be progressing like a period plus the stronger BFP. But the dates just don’t add up?! The internet suggests that implantation bleeds should happen around 9dpo so 13dpo seems like it must be a chemical pregnancy.

What does everyone think? Has anyone had a similar experience, is there any hope or is it looking like another disappointing month?

Why are you calling it a chemical pregnancy?

In a chemical pregnancy, the tests get lighter and you have period like bleeding.

If your tests are getting darker then I wouldn't worry, it sounds like implantation bleeding. Spotting is v common in early pregnancy

I thought that considering my period is due today that this must be the start of my period as it is too late for an implantation bleed, my confusion was at the fact that the test is not getting lighter. Is it possible to implant at 13dpo?

Also implantation can happen up to 14dpo and spotting is normal as the embryo buries itself further

Cross posted but yes completely normal

Thank you, sorry I’ve had losses before and I’m trying to manage my expectations. That’s really reassuring Smile

I completely understand, you end up just expecting the worst don't you?

Definitely a good sign that the test has got darker especially as it's not even FMU.

Good luck xx

That's a good sign the test line is getting stronger, implantation bleeding can appear from 7-14DPO but also bleeding can occur anytime throughout pregnancy without a cause for concern. If the bleeding is not painful or heavy then your pregnancy should be fine 🙂. Once you're 6 weeks pregnant you could get an early scan if you're concerned.

Crossed fingers this one sticks, I had totally convinced myself of AF, it feels too risky to feel hopeful atm.

I had a d&c in March for a mmc that wouldn’t resolve itself after medical management and the midwives said that they’d do an early scan if I fell pregnant again so hopefully they’ll still agree to it.

@DNAshelicase yes I see what you mean, the one at 13PM is the strongest. It's going to end up costing you a lot using all those FRER's, maybe leave it tomorrow and test again on Sunday. Then it will either have definitely got stronger or have disappeared and at least you'll know either way. Hopefully it will get stronger 🤞 x
