Day 3 hormone test & fertility advice

Hi

Me & my partner have been trying to conceive for a while now, i finally got pregnant in january which ended in a miscarriage at 4/5 weeks.
i've gotten my day 3 fertility hormone results back today but i was wondering if someone can help me understand my results as i have no clue what they mean, my follow up appointment will be in october but i'm very anxious to wait that long.
i've done my day 21 blood test today so i'm waiting for my results which ill post when i receive them.

Results:
FSH 6.5 U/L
LH LEVEL 6.9 U/L
OESTRADIOL LEVEL < 100 pmol/L
TESTOSTERONE LEVEL 1.3 nmol/L
PROLACTIN LEVEL 476 mU/L

Im 28 years old
Terrified i cant conceive/find it very hard to do so, because it did take me about 1/2 years to conceive for it to end in a miscarriage. I've been trying every month since january with no luck & i've been told apparently you're meant to conceive pretty quick after a miscarriage.
i wonder if there is something wrong with me because everyone i know gets pregnant pretty quick apart from me i also have HPV with a borderline abnormal smear ( doctor has told me its likely to go back to normal ) I was wondering if that can affect my ability to get pregnant.

Your Day 3 results across the board are perfect. When I have some time, I will come back and list the ideal range, plus links, for future reference. I think Prolactin is meant to be in mIU/L units, correct?

Please post your Day 21 results when you get them.

Has your OH done a sperm analysis also?

HPV does not seem to affect fertility in women, but does affect sperm quality in men (most likely DNA fragmentation).

Thank you so much for your help I will look through the links now. :) OH hasn’t done a sperm dialysis but he has been meaning to do so, I do suspect he has HPV too because he does have genital warts ( i don't have them ) nurse doesn’t seem worried about them & just prescribed him a cream, Could that be a reason for us not being able to conceive & my miscarriage. I’ve been searching online & it says if the LH is higher than the FSH It can indicate PCOS, are my results indicating PCOC as my LH is higher.

Hope you don't mind me bookmarking this - I am having bloods done next week and already know I will find it hard to understand them so may reread the info here. Hope when you look into it further everything looks normal for you x

Oh also thought I would add having HPV shouldn't have any impact on fertility. Apparently around one third of us get HPV at some point in our lifetime so it's incredibly common. If your husband has genital warts then he does have HPV as this is the virus that causes warts, however unless I'm misinformed, the type of HPV that causes warts is not the same type that causes abnormal cells. There are lots of different types, some of which cause warts, and the others that cause cell mutations, but HPV shouldn't be a cause for concern in regards to fertility unless you have to have abnormal cells removed, and even then you are just at a slightly higher risk of delivering early due to the thinning of the cervix during the procedure to remove the abnormal cells. In your case HPV doesn't sound like anything to worry about ☺️

Hi @myax, LH / FSH ratio is not a reliable way to confirm PCOS. If LH levels was 2 x or more than FSH, you would be suspected for PCOS.

For PCOS, you need to meet 2 out of 3 criteria,

• Menstrual irregularity
• Increased testosterone levels
• Ultrasound evidence of polycystic ovaries

Your testosterone level is ok, and you don't mention any menstrual irregularity? Correct?

If your hubby does test positive for HPV, apart from doing a sperm analysis, also ask for a 'dna fragmentation test' of his sperm. This second test you may have to do private, but will confirm if he's 100% fine or there's a problem there.

Poor sperm quality does cause fertilization failure and miscarriage, but you can't say for certain in hindsight if that was the issue that time round.

The Doctor will be reluctant to prescribe you any interventions without making sure your hubby is good on his side first.
