Weird dull throbbing pain in left side - 6 weeks pregnant

Hello everyone

I’m 6 wks 4 days and getting slight but dull pains in my left hand side. It’s occurring right under my tummy at the top of my pubic bone. Also getting pains in my left hip, but I am hypermobile and my joints give me bother all the time. I was wondering if the hip pain could be because I’m consciously lying on my left side in bed and my weight (a canny bit of weight!) is affecting it.

Absolutely terrified it’s an ectopic. I have rang early pregnancy unit this morning that have said I need GP referral. Because of COVID I have to wait hours to even speak to a GP on the phone and I’m so angry. This COVID malarkey is just an absolute nightmare in so many ways.

Does anyone have any reassurance or can help calm me please, I have no idea what to do until I can speak to someone 😥

Unfortunately only a scan can confirm whether it's ectopic or not. Have you got shoulder pain? Apparently that's a symptom of ectopic pregnancy (not sure why!).

I think that kind of pain sounds potentially normal, but agree if you are uncomfortable you should get it checked. It's ridiculous that You are having to wait hours to speak to a GP, but also surprised at EPU saying you need a referral. Near me you don't. Are there any other hospitals with EPUs you could call? Alternatively, if you can afford it, get a private scan...you shouldn't have to but it might be easier, quicker than waiting around at EPU and potentially less risk of catching covid or a cold.

I managed to see a GP at 2.30pm yday after first getting a telephone apt. He felt my tummy and I showed him where it was painful (albeit just mild). He checked my urine and all clear.

He told me he isn’t concerned at all but said to me ‘I may not be concerned, but I know you will only worry so I will schedule you an appointment at EPU for an ultrasound’

So I’m off there at 10am this morning! Can’t wait. Nervous. Hardly slept cos my mind is doing overtime!

Glad GP is being cautious. This happened to my friend and she ended up getting a private scan which sadly confirmed ectopic. Hope yours goes ok though, just try to be reassured that the GP has examined and not concerned.
