My DH and I tried for years with no success, as I got older we'd started to think it just wouldn't happen. At 40 we decided to have a go at IVF, just one more try and it bloody worked, we have twins now. We couldn't believe it, I was a bit worried going to antenatal classes etc as I thought I'd be the oldest one there but amazingly in the group I went to we were all in our late 30s/40s! Although I wish we'd had them when younger and more energetic we haven't had the same issues as younger parents such as finances and both having established careers, there are definite benefits to being an older parent.

Its not so strange as its rather common its a rather interesting question hence why ive put it out there

I’m 38 and definitely feel more anxious trying again this age than I did years ago when I had my children (I have 3 from a previous relationship).

I feel more frustrated this time around as I seem to be able to fall pregnant but not able to sustain a pregnancy, so my fear is just poorer quality eggs due to my age.

My reason for ttc now, is purely because I’m with a new partner, he has no children and we’d like one together. Although it won’t bother either of us too much if it doesn’t happen.

We’ve had 3 losses since January so have had the usual fertility tests done, he’s had a semen analysis done. All results for both of us were brilliant. I’m going for a scan tomorrow to check my egg quantity and tubes.

If all there is ok then we’ve just been told to keep trying and keep 🤞🏻

@Trixie18 thankyou hun for your reply oh wow a big congratulations to u yes it can be very frustrating when trying and exhausting.u are so right i fully agree there are some great benefits when u are a older parent as u seem to have more time on your hands and im sure there are some great mums out there who are young as well.i remember when i was rather young and i had my daughter there was certain things that i could of done more in depth she never went without nothingthou compare to having my son and being an older mum now .but my main concern/worry is the quality of the eggs when we get older its like a hit and miss situation
