Low slow HCG success stories

Hi ladies,

I found out that I was pregnant on Sunday after what I thought was AF (way to heavy for an implantation bleed). I went to the EPU on Monday and was told my HCG level was 13 which is super low. I was tested again today and my HCG has risen to 24 which has almost doubled but still really low. So I was told to test again in two weeks to see if I'm still pregnant and if so they'll bring me back in.

I'm super worried that my low HCG numbers mean that something is wrong but I'm still holding out hope that things will be okay. I should be 5 weeks today from LMP based on a 28 day cycle but my cycle has been all over the place the last couple of months and I wasn't tracking ovulation so technically I have no idea how far I am.

Can any of you lovely ladies please share any positive stories you may have? I so desperately want this baby to stick xxx

Sorry not got anything to add but just wanted to bump and follow this!

My dates are the same as yours, 5 weeks today based on LMP. I've been getting positive tests since my first one on Sunday (must have took about 20!) including a digital which said 1-2 weeks. My lines all look like yours in the photo and have done since Sunday without getting any darker so I'm concerned about that. I had a MC in March and everything is making me worried with this one!

ForeverHopeful17 · 16/09/2020 20:45

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage @Lou98 I've also had one and it is truly heartbreaking and adds so much worry to an already stressful process.

The good news is that your lines aren't getting any lighter! I've got my fingers crossed for both of us hun. Hopefully someone comes across this thread with a positive story x

@ForeverHopeful17 it really does, it's a time we should be enjoying but I can't help feeling worried about everything like it's not going to last!

Fingers crossed we both get our positives and healthy babies!

Hopefully someone else will come along soon!

I haven’t experienced miscarriage but when I was pregnant with my son (who is now nearly 3) I bled early and went to the EPU. They turned me away. My CB digital didn’t go to 2-3 weeks until I was nearly 6 weeks, and I was convinced it was all going to go Tits up as my levels were rising so slowly. However that pregnancy was successful and I am now TTC #2. Baby dust to you!

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 06:04

Thank you so much @Floopyandtired that has given me soooo much hope! Baby dust to you too for baby number 2 x 💫

I’m in the same boat. I’m 5 weeks. I had what I thought was a full period after getting a very faint positive. I assumed miscarriage or chemical. Did a test yesterday and it was 2-3 weeks on clearblue digital.

Because I had an ectopic earlier this year I went to EPU. My hcg yesterday was 179. I’m going back on Friday for another blood test so we will see what it’s doing.

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 07:52

I'm really sorry to hear about your ectopic @XjustagirlX that's honestly my biggest worry. Were they able to spot it early?

Fingers crossed for you for Friday hun, keep us posted x

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 17/09/2020 09:37

@ForeverHopeful17 thank you. No they didn’t spot it for weeks. I’ve actually considered complaining with the service I received. They just sent me home for 2 weeks. They also told me the wrong hcg result. And said I needed to have my tubes removed. Luckily I didn’t listen to them and it resolves on its own.

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 12:25

Oh I would definitely complain @XjustagirlX during my MC I received such shocking service and I honestly regret not making a complaint at the time. I'm glad to hear that you didn't follow their advice and it resolved on it's own.

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 17/09/2020 12:38

@ForeverHopeful17 oh no what happened to you. What did you want to complain about?

Stabal · 17/09/2020 12:54

@ForeverHopeful17 hi! I've not had an experience personally but just wanted to say please don't panic or think too much into it (hard not to, I know!) but some people's hcg levels are still only at 5 at 4-5 weeks. It's particularly common if you have a longer cycle or implanted late. My sister never got a positive home pregnancy test, it was only positive with bloods at the GP and she was 13 weeks at the time. That baby is now 16 years old. Wishing you the best of luck 🤞

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 13:20

@XjustagirlX when I went to the EPU when I had started bleeding the nurse had to do a transvaginal scan to see if she could see anything, I found it extremely painful and she was very rough so I let her know, she just gave me a dirty look and said 'well you're having sex and sex is more painful than this' and just kept going. At the time I was 19 on my own and in so much pain from the MC, it was such a traumatic experience and she didn't make it any better. I wish I had reported her at the time, it's been 11 years now and I remember it so clearly. I was so anxious about going to the EPU on Monday because of this experience but fortunately the nurse was much more pleasant

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 13:21

Oh wow @Stabal that is so reassuring to hear. It's so hard being in limbo but these stories really do give me so much hope. Thank you so much x

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 17/09/2020 13:33

@ForeverHopeful17 oh no that’s shocking! Some of them can be really insensitive and some are just amazing. I have incredibly revered uterus so I completely understand the painful scans.

It must be a horrible two weeks waiting to see if you are still pregnant. So were you 5 Weeks with a hcg of 24? I’m 5+2 so very similar. We both have had a “period” which to me is the worrying thing. Have you had any other symptoms?

Stabal · 17/09/2020 13:42

@ForeverHopeful17 you're welcome! I think we're wrongly told to be concerned about the overall number when it's if it's doubling in 2-3 days that's the main factor which yours has so fingers crossed everything progresses nicely 😊

ForeverHopeful17 · 17/09/2020 13:49

You're right, some are horrible but some are amazing!

It definitely is going to be horrible waiting, worst thing is OH is away for another two weeks! I'm going to do daily progression tests so I kinda have an idea for myself as I definitely can't wait two weeks.

Yes, from LMP I would have been 5 weeks with HCG of 24 but I could have ovulated much later than the average of 14 days as my cycle has varied so much lately. The 'period' honestly had me so worried and I was convinced it meant the worst but I just keep telling myself a lot of ladies do experience heavy bleeds early on and have healthy pregnancies and we're both gonna be part of those ladies.

The only symptoms I have are sore boobs (which is why I tested in the first place) and I need to pee every 2 hours. Oh and really bad insomnia which leads to me being exhausted all day, also really vivid dreams. What about you?

OP posts:
XjustagirlX · 17/09/2020 22:00

My bleed was brown spotting which I usually get anyway. Then it changed to bright red and clots and then black and stringy. Lasted about 5 days in total. Also my bbt dropped on the first day of bleeding. So I definitely felt it was some sort of miscarriage.

The only symptoms I have are cramps and twinges. I’m constipated but keep feeling like I need to go to the toilet. I felt slightly queasy earlier. Also I have lots of saliva in my mouth. My boobs feel normal.

Moonchild89 · 07/01/2021 06:18

Hi @foreverhopeful17, I've just come across this thread as I'm going through the exact situation that you posted about.

I've just had a 'period' but my HCG levels have continued to increase. Still low, but they're going up. 5 days ago, they were 12, and yesterday (after my period had ended) they went up to 28. I'm so confused! Not expecting a good outcome, but trying to remain somewhat hopeful fingers crossed.

I was wondering what the outcome was from your situation? I hope everything went well for you OP!

Asia2020 · 05/03/2021 13:29

Hi Ladies, I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage at 12 wks scan & was told I had a blighted ovum which meant the egg was fertilised & implanted but didn’t develop into an embryo 🙁 it was huge shock as had all symptoms & even took a pregnancy test the day before scan which was still saying positive & as I hadn’t experience any pain or bleeding was blissfully unaware of the heartbreaking news that was told on the day of my scan,
I then naturally miscarried the pregnancy at home 2 days later.

Fast forward to today I found out I’m expecting again I’m currently 7 wks 5 days & when I tested last wk with a clear blue it only showed me being 1-2 wks which is inaccurate dating from my LMP I also done a urine test for the doctor & they said my urine only detected 25 ml of HCG which is low for the wks I am so requested a blood test as urine that’s diluted makes it inaccurate reading, but cause of before I’m so scared it’s happened again but then this time I’m feeling a lot different like I’ve gone off chocolate & coffee I’ve had morning sickness since last wk which I didn’t the last time so hoping that’s a positive sign this time around anyone else had low HCG in urine but been ok
Sending loads of baby dust to you all xx

ForeverHopeful17 · 29/03/2021 18:42

@Moonchild89 I'm so sorry, I have only just seen your message almost 3 months later. Unfortunately it didn't end well for me but I do hope you had a much better outcome x

@Asia2020 I'm really sorry for your loses. As mentioned above it didn't end well for me but I hope things have progressed nicely for you x

Ttcxx · 02/08/2021 23:01

This thread is promising,I’m currently waiting for a 3rd mc it’s so heartbreaking I feel the doctors are just not helpful or even willing to help

Sab85 · 28/12/2021 19:37

Hi, I know your post was months ago but wondered what was the outcome as I’m in a similar situation atm?

Saisha · 07/01/2022 23:03

Hi all,

I came to know about my pregnancy in the first week of December. Per my last menstrual cycle date, I thought I was 8 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I followed up with my doctor and thought everything was fine until this Tuesday, I started bleeding and panicked. I rushed to the ER and got the pelvic, cervix exam and ultrasound done along with blood work. They mentioned that the cervix was closed, bleeding stopped, ultrasound showed a sac in the uterus which confirmed that it was not an ultrasound ectopic pregnancy. I was told that I am way too young in my pregnancy (May be 5th or 6th week). I started spotting (very light) on Wednesday. I was scheduled for another in person appointment with an OB/GYN on Thursday. She did another ultrasound which showed the same results. I started bleeding again on Thursday and this time it was soaking on the sanitary napkin (changed twice in a day). The HCG level when tested in the ER (on Tuesday) was 6,625 and the results from yesterday showed 4,333. So, it has considerably reduced. I am really scared right now and no one has any answer as to what is going on with me. At this point it’s just a waiting game to see if it’s a miscarriage or the pregnancy would continue. Any one has any insights if they experienced a similar situation? Please let me know. I am already prepared for the worst.

I am scheduled for another ultrasound in two weeks but don’t really know if it would be necessary anymore. Looking forward to hearing more from you all.

Sab85 · 08/01/2022 10:17

Sorry your going through this Saisha, reducing numbers in hcg means mc, I miscarried in November 2021 and on 2nd scan they couldn’t see the sac anymore. 3 weeks later my tests were still positive so they checked my hcg which was nearly 500, reduced 48 hrs later to 445, a week later to 200, and then yesterday was 65. They asked to do a test again in 3 weeks. If losing the baby wasn’t draining, this sure was 😟
