Chemical pregnancy or implantation bleeding?

I have been TTC since October 2019 and had a pregnancy with a missed miscarriage detected at 9 weeks that was surgically managed in June. It took a couple of months to get back to normal with my cycles. This month I had bleeding start on day 21 which is early for me (normally 24-28 day cycles) and it never progressed beyond very light dark brown bleeding, but it lasted for 2.5-3 days. Before my miscarriage I had implantation bleeding but it was one wipe of the tissue, not 3 days of light bleeding. My periods are normally light anyway but this was even lighter than normal. Yesterday I took a IC test as I was feeling the bleeding wasn’t normal, and it was positive, as was one this morning. Do you guys think this was likely to be a chemical or implantation? For those who’ve had chemicals, how long does it take for a negative test to appear? Really hoping this one sticks - I know some women seem to have normal periods when pregnant so hoping that is the case rather than a chemical!

Fingers crossed for you

I got a negative 5 days after my positive when I had a chemical pregnancy. Was also following a MMC - found out in the July, had the D&C in August, chemical pregnancy Nov. Then caught again following March which was successful

Fingers crossed for you!
My CP I had only faint positives that never got darker, after a few days, AF arrived and the tests were negative.

Thanks both! I guess if it’s still positive in a week that’s probably a sign it’s progressing. Just don’t know what to think and after our miscarriage in June we’re very keen for it to happen!

So I had positive tests up to Friday (didn’t take one yesterday or today) but the lines weren’t any darker or lighter; but the dark brown very light bleeding started again on Friday then this morning I had an episode of quite heavy bright red blood and cramps. I’m 95% sure I’m having an early miscarriage- I’m about 4+5.

@notalwaysalondoner hey lovely, how did you get on?

I had positives Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - even a digi said positive 1-2 weeks! Worked out I would be 4+5 but have now faint positives along with spotting/bleeding - a rusty brown/pinky colour but I think it may be AF arriving 😭 craps are there fully! I'm not holding out much hope x

Yes how did you get on? I started my ‘period’ on cycle day 22 and for some reason on cycle day 25 did a stick test which was positive. Other better tests came back positive as well and digital (saying 1-2 weeks) and they have been really strong this week (digital test even went to 2-3 weeks). I had heavy bleeding until Thursday and I still have some blood now, still strong positives so all over the place right now.

I would only be 4 weeks yesterday. I’ve had a blood test Friday where my hcg was at 200 with low progesterone and having another tomorrow to try and compare.

You don’t sound like you’ve had as much blood so hopefully you’ll be alright. Got my fingers crossed for you

Unfortunately a week after the test I had heavy bleeding so it was a chemical/early miscarriage for me. I had spotted heavily/had light dark brown bleeding on and off the whole week so wasn’t entirely surprised. Still gutted though. Unfortunately you just have to see what happens, unless you are bleeding heavy bright red blood you may be ok, but you also may not. Fingers crossed!

Sorry to hear it.

My blood was really red and heavy before. It’s dark now as there isn’t as much as before. I can’t understand why I still have positives as my friend miscarried at 6 weeks and her tests went to negative before she started bleeding.

Hoping you get good luck soon x

Hi there, it sucks doesn't it.
I had a mmc in June too and got a positive test on Thursday and Friday just gone although very faint. I was certain of my dates so knew this was not a good sign and sure enough, started bleeding Friday afternoon....so a chemical pregnancy for me too. I won't be doing a test to see if it's negative and although I usually have much heavier periods, this is still definately a period.
I have had pre-af spotting since my mmc and got it this cycle too. I think my luteal phase is a bit weak, hence the chemical this time. So I plan on boosting myself with vit b until I get another positive then will switch to a pregnancy vitamin....got to do something proactive as I won't be referred for tests until 3 mc and hubby and I have decided not to keep trying if we have another. We are lucky to have children already.
Also giving the opks a rest this month to try and remove some stress.
Take care of yourself. Xx
