Hello, I don't know if this is a question people can relate to but DH and I are getting ready to do a frozen IVF transfer and have to decide whether to transfer 1 or 2 embryos (I have a medical condition which makes it hard to get pregnant naturally). We currently have a lovely one year old DD but would like to try for a second quite soon in case it's hard to conceive and due to my age (I'm 38). DH and I would love another child and to give our DD a sibling. We are torn about whether to transfer one or two embryos. Two would maximise our chances of at least one succeeding and this would probably be my last attempted pregnancy due to age and finances. We also think it would be lovely to meet more of our embryos (potential children) if possible. However, I worry about the health risk of twins and whether we'd find it very tiring to have a toddler and twins (our DD just started at an excellent childminder's but we have little family support). I also am thinking about the impact of potential twins on our DD who will be about 22-23 months old if we succeed the first time. She is currently a very content child and we hope to keep it that way. :) I wanted to know what others have done or would do in a similar situation: would you transfer 1 or 2 embryos? Has anyone else had a toddler and twins with a similar age gap and how was it for them? This may all be hypothetical as we would be very lucky for one to take, but I thought it would be very helpful to hear others' thoughts or experiences just in case we end up with a twin pregnancy. Thank you for your time.
