Chances of BFP after UTI during ovulation

I'm a full time lurker but first time poster here. I'm feeling pretty crappy generally with TTC. Been trying now for six months but keep getting UTIs. Also had a chemical the month before last.

I'm not sure whether I'm out this month as I got a bladder infection on my ovulation day (yesterday) so couldn't have sex on the day. We had DD the Saturday, Monday and Tuesday but I'm not sure now that we didn't on the day of ovulation and I've had a UTI whether I should now mentally write this month off?

I was wondering if anyone is also having issues with UTIs?

So, I'm 1dpo and I'm feeling pretty low with the continual rollercoaster of TTC. I feel like the only time I feel normal now is the week between the disappointment of my period arriving and the fertile week.

Any words of encouragement would be gratefully received 🙃

You can still get pregnant with a UTI. A positive OPK only indicates that ovulation will likely occur in the next 12-48 hours so if you feel up for sex today, give it another go. Plus sperm survives a few days, even if you didn't have sex today you've still got a chance. As for the UTIs, one factor can be bacteria going up your urethra due to sex, the best way to avoid this is going for a wee after sex. Since you're TTC, give it like 10 mins so the sperm has time to make its way up your cervix then go for a wee to flush the bacteria out your urethra.

Thanks. Yeh, I'll try today too. I have been waiting ten -fifteen mins and then peeing after sex but I'm still getting them. I might go to the docs soon as I don't think I can really continue like this.

Same thing happened me this month and I had started to wonder if it was an actual UTI or BV - symptoms quite similar. And BV could be caused from DTD so much, us using concieve plus lube which could throw the PH level off etc. Mine eventually did clear up on its own as I didn't want to ruin my chances with antibiotics but if it had of continued I would of been ringing GP for antibiotic. It is really damaging to keep allowing utis to go untreated esp for fertility so you might be safer ringing GP for a course of a antibotics ? I also had a chemical last month - it is so so crappy!!! I am 9dpo and have zero symptoms , I also couldn't DTD on day of ovulation and dtd three days before like you did lol. So will see but I'm not holding out much hope this cycle but I will keep you posted. Try DTD again today if it's not too uncomfortable as you might still catch it.

Thanks mamainmaking1. I have also been using Conceive+ lube so maybe that could be it. I got a static smiley two days ago and DTD on that day but couldn't on the second day because of the UTI symptoms. I'll DTD again today just in case I have a slow egg bobbing around haha.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you this month. Its so hard to not get hopes up isn't it? Surely, if you're having sex around ovulation, you have a good chance. I hate that feeling of not giving myself the best chance each month but sex is kind of turning into a bit of a chore around ovulation because of that pressure.

Keep us posted on how you get on. Are you holding off testing until when your period's due?

Haha so weird how your situation is literally identical to me! I took a frer this morning and BFN - I am only 9dpo but I had a BFP this time last month at 9dpo. I have zero symptoms so I have myself pretty prepared. So disappointing though I really thought I would go on to get another BFP this month because I read about being fertile after chemicals etc. I get you completely about dtd - I feel the whole process is taking its toll on me and even on my mood. I feel lulls around period and before ovulation and then same in tww. Just feels like it's taking over my life lol. Have you been TTC for long? Fingers crossed for you this month!! Yeh, I did try last month but didn't have any luck. The chemical was upsetting but at least it's a sign that things are working. I read that you're more fertile over the next three months, so even if it's not this month, hopefully you shouldn't have to wait too long. 9dpo is still super early so you're definitely in with a good chance still. My chemical didn't show up until 14dpo and I tested at 12dpo.

I'm with you on the moods! I'm speaking to a couple of close friends and family about it for support. If I hear, 'just relax and it will happen' one more time, I think my head might explode. This is my 6 month TTC. So I know it's fairly early days but I don't think I was prepared for the mental side of dealing with the cycles of disappointment. How about you? @mrspeanutbutter we have been trying roughly around the same amount of time. When I got my BFP last month I started to realise pretty quickly things weren't going my way as my lines got somewhat darker for a few days but then started to go the other way. I got my first faint bfp on Sunday at 9dpo and I started bleeding on the Friday. I kick myself all the time for not going to GP and asking about the possibility of progesterone , I worry that I may of missed my chance 🙈 I know it is super early but I had began getting light heads/ some slight nausea by this stage last month and sensitive chest with continuing CM. This month I don't have any of the above and cm has dried up. I am.due to start spotting today if my cycle remains the same as before the chemical so I will see how things go today - keep your fingers crossed for me! Have you any other kids or are you trying for you first? How's the symptoms for UTI? You can get a canestest test in chemist that tells you if it is BV - might be worth getting so atleast you know if it's your PH off or a UTI.

I'm currently pregnant with a UTI baby! I even took a test beforehand to check I could take antibiotics and it was a stark negative.
And I didn't have sex on ovulation, but a day either side - so you're still in with a chance!

How you getting on @mrspeanutbutter? I had my first bfp last cycle after a uti but unfortunately miscarried at almost 7 weeks. Now 3dpoish with another uti! Crossing everything for another bfp. Have your infections stopped now?
